"After doing a huge amount of research, I finally settled on this set. I was actually interested in the slightly lower-priced Toshiba Regza, but every store in my area was out. While shopping around, I noticed that this Samsung in particular seemed to have a top-notch picture. Finally I decided to take the plunge 3 days ago, and I have not been disappointed at all. In the past I have had several issues with LCD TVs, which is why I had been hesitating up to now. I know these issues are on many people's minds, and so I will address each one:

Motion Response

First, and most important, is response time with fast motion. I am driven absolutely nuts if the TV can't "hold" the motion (that is, if the image smears, or fractures, when high speed elements are zooming across the screen). The element you are looking for in an LCD monitor that tells you about this is "response time", and you want something 8ms or below. I believe this TV is 6ms (the specs say this on Sammy's website, but several stores have it listed as 8ms). In any case, this TV "holds" the motion of even fast images extremely well. In the store, it held motion best of all comparably priced models, including the Sony Bravias around $1k, and the Sharps around the same price. When I got it home, I tested it out with Star Wars ep. 1 and the battle sequence from Narnia. Both looked outstanding using a regular DVD player with HDMI upconvert to 720p. You will not see ghosting issues with high def images.

Color and contrast

Color fidelity and contrast are also important to me, and LCDs have been known to have issues producing deep blacks and bright whites. This is not a problem for this set. It produces excellent color, and did so right out of the box with the factory pre-sets. I have not had to fiddle with it at all. I did try switching to "Cinema" mode, which has some nice characteristics, but even without that, everything looked amazing.

Standard Def rendition

Another major issue with LCDTVs and monitors is that anything not displayed at the native resolution tends to look blurred or "fractured". I was very concerned about this because I have lots of old DVDs of shows like Seinfeld and the Simpsons, which I know were never broadcast in HD. Also many TV stations have not yet made the switch (though most have). Here the TV was about as good as I have seen, though it is not perfect. The good news is that upconverted SD sources like the Seinfeld DVDs look excellent -- every bit as good as on a regular TV, if not better. The bad news is that your VHS tapes are going to look blurry and pixelated on a set like this. I don't have a lot of VHS tapes left, and so this isn't a huge deal. Regular SD sources with this set vary in quality. For example, the SD version of Animal Planet had a special on the other night that almost looked HD. At the same time, flip channels to CNN, and it looks terrible. I suspect this is the broadcast quality and NOT the set... otherwise all channels would look awful in SD. So when you get a nice SD source being broadcast, it looks fine.

I would highly recommend this set. After connecting my HD cable box today and watching things like CSI:Miami, Vegas, and Miss Congeniality, all in widescreen HD, I can say that I am totally blown away by this set's HD performance. I don't think you'll be able to find a better HD TV set for the price."

This is an incredible HD TV. Sony really produced a winner.

It is a beautiful piece of furniture with the glass surround and what a beautiful picture it produces, ( both HD as well as standard format)
Our neighbor viewed it and ordered one exactly like ours.
Our living room where this is placed is bright with outside light during daylight hours and the mat finish on Sony's screen obscures this and plays extremely well.

Customer Review: Defective display panel.

This TV works fine for the first 4 months, then a vertical dead line appeared and propagated every day.

Called the Repair center and realized this is a typical problem for this TV. Now it is Olympic time and I have no TV to watch!

Simply DO NOT buy this TV. If you really want to give it a shot, buy it with extended warranty.

I am lucky since this TV broke down while still covered under warranty. If not, be prepared for another $2000+ for the display panel replacement.
BTW, as mentioned by someone before, SONY custom service is a disaster!

This tv is beautiful and easy to set up.The worst of it is that it's best viewed when fully vertical, and the prop in the back isn't long enough for that, so I needed a piece of wood under it to raise it. It doesn't have its verticality worked out - unless you mount it on a wall. It has outlets and inlets for seemingly any device, and suggests hookups. It's been a daily part of my life for a month, and it's beautiful, and easy to control and hook up. I would highly recommend it.

All I can say is the whole package is superb! I have sampled most of the features including the motion enhancers--everything works as advertised. And, of course, the picture quality is second to none. Finally, I cannot detect any fan noise from the XBR. I recommend this unit to anyone desiring the highest quality LCD display.

TV Heaven

I have had this TV for about 6 weeks, I can not tell you how much we are enjoying it. Great picture, good sound and in a room where the TV should only be a 50" max this works because of the quality of the picture. The viewing angle is better then the DL models. The picture is almost as good as a plasma without the price. I have not had trouble with the light but they cost $300., get the extended warrenty it could pay for itself. :-}

Customer Review: Outstanding Picture and Sound

I've had this TV for almost 8 months and am as happy with it as I was the day it was set up. The picture is wonderful and the sound very pleasing. There is no pixelating from fast image movement. The frame is brushed metal and narrow enough that the set doesn't stick out. Very beautiful. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this TV again.

My only regret is that I didn't buy the 46" which in retrospect would have fit the room well.

Customer Review: Fantastic LCD TV

I was looking for a 40" LCD and narrowed it down to the Sony 40Z4100, Sony 40XBR4, and Samsung LN40A750... I've previously owned a 46" Samsung LN-T4665F and a Samsung LN-T3253H so naturally I wanted to go back to Samsung. The picture on the 750 is amazing but side by side, in multiple stores, I just couldn't take my eyes off the Sony LCDs. I then was stuck between the Sony 40XBR4 and the 40Z4100...

I had my heart set on the XBR4 since it was Sony's top of the line product last year, but when I saw that this years 40" XBR6 and XBR7 were going to have identical specs to the Z4100, (granted Contrast Ratio will probably be higher on the XBR's,) it came down to the simple question of:
Do I want to spend $2500+ on the new XBR or $1700+ on the Z4100??
I have to say I'm extremely happy with my decision to save a few bucks and go with the Z-series. The picture quality is breathtaking in both HD and Blu-Ray. Standard TV is top notch as well but I'm blown away with the detail, color, and overall picture this TV offers. You really can't lose if you're going with any of these 3 TV's but I'm so glad I went with the Z-series. Its thin frame is hardly seen and the TV is almost 20 lbs lighter than the XBR4... The Sony 40Z4100, is hands down, my choice for a 40" LCD.

Customer Review: Great quality that you'd expect from a Sony set - even if a bit pricier

Was time to replace my 36" Sony XBR tube with a new HDTV set but had a specific space limitation due to the existing TV cabinet - had to fit something inside just over 39". Looked at the Samsung 650 and was leaning heavily that way but was concerned that the size was just too tight for my opening (even with some adjustments) and the glossy screen was a concern given lots of natural light in the room.
Was then looking to the "W" series when I found the "Z" - a bit more, but it was definately smaller (the exact same width as my 36" XBR tube set) and I liked the DLNA options.
The reason for 4 vs 5 stars is the fact that using the DLNA feature has not been easy thus far. There are little to no instructions with the set for this and I've tried three DLNA-compatible Media Servers (four if you count Windows Media Player). I finally was able to access pics from my PC by using the SimpleCenter media center but I've not been able to get the TV to realize that audio is also being shared by SimpleCenter. Sony's on-line & e-mail help were not very helpful so I'm going to have to spend some time on the phone with their support line - hopefully that will prove more helpful and I can get access to my music as well.
I have not experienced the "sparkling" effect mentioned by another reviewer - hopefully that's a limited issue that will not crop up after further burn-in.
Overall the set looks great - the S-Video connection from my non-HD DirecTV receiver looks better than on another smaller HDTV set I have (Insignia - BestBuy's house brand). Interesting the Insignia seemed to do a bit better in pulling in the off-air signal than the Sony (with weaker signals - we live quite a ways away from any transmitters) until I went and purchaed a new antenna signal amplifer (I think the one I had had gone, or was starting to go, bad) but now I get great HDTV picture off the air and when connected to a Sony upconverting DVD player my existing CDs look great.
UPDATE: After no help from Sony Support, I have finally determined / realize that Music/MP3s are not supported over DLNA. To Sony's credit, the manual does not claim music support of MP3 - only refers to photos - but the fact that you can play music from USB seems to be it a bit ambigious - perhaps I just wanted this to funciton like the Samsung 7 series that allows music streaming as well as the RSS feeds and more - oh well.... at least I have pics working - still keeping it at 4 stars due to the poor level of Sony's support in helping me clearly realize this basic fact (after using Chat, e-mail and phone support).
UPDATE 2: Having issues getting the "built-in" TV Guide to let me select channels I want displayed and keep those without it hiding ones I select or adding ones I don't want - once again a couple of rounds with Sony support has not provide much support.... granted these features are the "extras" and don't affect the TV viewing quality - which is excellent - just frustrating things when you purchase something with this bit of a premium against the similar class competitors....

Customer Review: A Sony non-XBR set at at even better price!

As a previous owner of a Sony 40XBR4, I was skeptical of a Sony set that was not one of the XBR series. Consequently, I discovered the "Z" series which has most of the XBR features, but at an even better price.
The KDL-46Z4100/B is one great set with a picture to match. This model doesn't have the x.v color feature, but has all the other bells and whistles of the XBR for hundreds less.
The "Z" series features a TV Guide programming feature. Since most people have either a digital cable box or satellite receiver, I question how many out there could actually make use of this feature.
Checking out the Xross Media Bar setup menu it is easy to get lost in the amazing amount of controls available to the user. This may look like a minus, but it is really a plus.
LCD TVs are known for their slimness, but this model really outdoes the competition. With a one-inch thickness, it should fit most anywhere--especially on the wall.
If you are looking for a state-of-the-art LCD TV, look no farther than the KDL-46Z4100 series. Its picture and features will amaze you.

It's been a daily part of my life for a month, and it's beautiful, and easy to control and hook up. I would highly recommend it.

Customer Review: KDL 46 XBR4

After one month of operation this TV is in need of service.

The power light transfers to stand-by mode and then back to power. This

cycle repeats over an over with no picture to access set up.

When it is working the picture quality is excellent. The fans noise was a concern when purchasing, but turns out to be a non issue.
Sony warranty seems to be accomodating but requires serial number to initiate the service call. I agree with this policy but it is a bit of a hassle if your TV is wall mounted at 5'0" on center. I would recommend that you log your serial number before installation so you do not have any delays if service needs to be called.

This TV it is so great, it looks wonderful with my dish network hd reciver even in the channels that are not hd. Also I am speachless of how the PS3 looks.

Before I bought it I read some reviews but the thing that make me get it It was the fact that Scott Wilkinson(editor of the ultimateAVmag.com) said that it one of the best in the market. I hear his intervention at the radio show "The Tech Guy" with Leo Laporte every week.

We bought this Sony HD TV based on the comments here. We are very happy with the set. Glad we bought it, picture is wonderful. The Amazon free delivery and no tax is a great deal. Pros:

-Love the design, Piano black bezel and rounded corners. Always expected when buying SONY products.

-Great Contrast, color, and brightness.

-Fantastic digital processor, so I let the TV do all the work...I set my regular progressive scan DVD player to 480i and run it via a component cable to the TV. Dvd player is set to 16:4 Wide screen ratio, with a widesreen version DVD movie WOW it look AWSOME! I had to pick and choose which color preset looked the best, the cinema was great for me.

-Great menus, easy to read and use.

-Inset Speaker design not only looks elegant but sounds great!

Cons:

Not anything serious, juss things I think would have made it better.

-Adding 1 more HDMI input, maybe on the side?

-Swivel stand.

Customer Review: Better than L-Series for some dollars more

I own a 40" 1080p SONY Bravia TV and bought the 32" 720 HDMI for the master bedroom together with the Peerless Universal Tilt Wall Mount for 13 - 37". The 720p resolution is very good for this TV size but I do not recomend it as a PC monitor unless it is used for games or movies.

This model has a a little better contrast than the L series and PIP capability, when PC is used as main source; also the Piano finish worths the money for some dollars more in Amazon. The Tv does not come with SVGA cable as the 40" did.

Customer Review: A complete waste of 2 thousand dollars.

We bought this Sony Bravia 1 1/2 years ago from Amazon. It had a 5 star rating, everyone loves it. Last week we turned on the tv and all we saw were vertical lines. My husband did a search on problems with this model and found multiple message boards of people having the same complaint. No picture, just vertical lines. Everyone wrote in that the cost of the repairs were actually more expensive than what they paid for the tv. We brought ours to a Sony repairman, and was told the TV's lcd board was shot. The cost for the part from Sony is $1,800.00. Plus $200 for the repairman. After only 1.5 years of having the tv, the cost for the repairs were exactly what we spent to buy it. The repairman says this happens very frequently with Sony products now, and Sony doesn't budge to help with the cost, they just don't care. My husband called Sony himself to complain about it and told them we will never buy another Sony product again. What a disappointment. Please do yourself a favor and do some serious research before spending this much money on a Sony TV. Amazon reviews are great, but what you need to research is what happens to the products after having them for over one year. Sony used to put out a great television, but now they are pathetic.

Customer Review: TV Rocks, other issues aside.

Well it's been nearly one week since having this TV in-home and here are my first impressions:

1) Do not expect that Amazon customer service will be a quick way to resolve issues with your order. I spent the better part of 8 hours on the phone in relation to this order because of a bunch of weird circumstances. I finally got everything straightened out, but there were quite a few MAJOR frustrations. D

2) Amazon ordering issues aside, CEVA did a fantastic job with the delivery. They were on time, the delivery person carried the huge box into my house, unboxed it, set it up and tested that everything was working properly. He even took off his shoes when he got in the front door! A+

3) Set-up was a breeze. Before it arrived, I had already acquired all the external hook-ups (HD cable box, Blu-Ray player) and HDMI cables needed, so all CEVA had to do was plug in the power and a couple HDMI cables and we were set. Note on HDMI cables- do NOT overpay for Monster or some other brand. I got three 6 foot HDMI 1.3 Cables from monoprice.com for $15, including shipping. A-

4) The TV itself is gorgeous. Picture quality from the HD cable and from the Blu-ray player look almost three dimensional. Some of the features of the TV are gimmicky in my opinion, such as the TV Guide feature, and I do NOT like the look of the MotionFlow... it seems like everyone is gliding around, at least on High. Standard is tolerable, but at this point, I prefer it Off. A-

5) There's obviously a learning curve associated with all new electronics, but I found the set-up options to be quite intuitive. After playing around for a few hours, I was confident in making adjustments and changing inputs, etc. B+
Now for a note that is intended for anyone who's considering this TV as their first HDTV, as I was:
Expect to have to get some new peripheral gear. You probably know you'll at least need an HD Cable box or antenna, perhaps a Blu-ray player, and HDMI cables to get the best picture this TV is capable of, but what you might not realize is the potential dilemma in audio quality. For years I've had good quality red/white audio cables running out of both my cable box and DVD player and into an old stereo receiver with just two floor-standing speakers hooked up and never once had an issue with the sound. However, when trying to use this configuration with the new HDTV and HD Cable Box/Blu-ray player, I immediately noticed a problem with the synchronization of the video and audio. There was a delay between what I saw and heard that was entirely unacceptable. I feared the TV had problems, but after researching up on it, I found that the issue was caused by the fact that I had a digital video output to the TV (HDMI) and an analog audio output to the receiver (Red/White) that were not matching each other. I went to BB and talked to one of the Home Theater experts there and he confirmed this problem. So in addition to getting the new TV, Blu-Ray player and HD Cable box, I had to buy a new receiver capable of handling a digital audio signal, be it HDMI or Optical Digital Audio (I went with the later, since I wanted to maintain my video inputs directly into the TV). Obviously, if you have newer equipment or just use the TV for audio, you won't have this issue, but it was very frustrating for me.
Overall, I'm EXTREMELY happy with the TV now that everything is properly set-up and I can't wait to enjoy it for years to come!

Had this TV for 2 month now. It's perfect. I tried samsung, sharp, vizio, zenith, westinghouse, and this sony tv is the best of them all. It's got the best dark level and i saw some dark details even my 23" samsung and 32" 1080p sharp doesn't show.
extremely happy with this TV. Make sure you do your TV settings in picture "custom" (there are standard, vivid, custom, and cinema). i first use "standard" and it auto dim during dark scene which will loose dark detail. Custom does not auto dim backlight.

Customer Review: Awesome Value with Great Picture and Sound

I researched for months before purchasing the Sony KDL-40V4100 and am glad I decided on this set. Other sets I looked at were the Samsung LN-40A550 and Panasonic TC-37LZ800.

Overall the picture has very good black levels (without compromising shadow detail), clear whites, and vibrant colors. The only major flaws are "flashlighting" near the corners of the screen and an annoying backlight dimming (even with the Advanced Contrast Enhancer disabled). However, these are only really noticeable during completely black scenes and have not bothered me during regular viewing.

Sound: 5 of 5

The sound is loud and clear considering the small size of the speakers and the S-Force Front Surround actually works well. This set is much better than my previous Samsung LCD which had weak sound and created an annoying echo at times.

Inputs: 5 of 5

This set has 4 HDMI (version 1.3) inputs, allowing you to connect several high definition sources. The side inputs are also useful for connecting digital or video cameras. The only downside is the lack of a USB port offered on other comparable sets.

Miscellaneous: 5 of 5

The gloss black finish and clear space between the screen and speakers give the set a slim and open look. The menu is easy to navigate and looks nice. I also like the 24p TrueCinema which provided a smoother picture with movie content. However, if you find this feature unnatural you can always disable it.

Customer Review: great while it lasted

I owned the 1080i version of this model (no longer available here on Amazon, so I'm reviewing here). Everything was great...incredible picture and sound...for about 7 months. Then it started turning itself off randomly...it would just turn off, then come back on about 5 seconds later. Sometimes it would do this about once a week, then it would go on a spree and shut off 10 times in 30 minutes. Sony customer service was USELESS...at their prompting I spent hours rewiring the thing in different configurations to see if it was the cable or DVR causing the issue, and never had it get better. Finally it shut off, never to come back on. It was 13 months after I bought it...1 month after warranty, and even though I'd been working with them for months on it, Sony has taken the stance that the warranty has expired(!). I take it to a local shop and they say the main motherboard is fried, $800 to fix. I cough up the $800 and it works...for 3.5 months. Then the thing blows a gasket, crackling like sizzling bacon and filling the entire house with acrid smoke. Again, Sony says 'so sorry, you're hosed'. I always thought Sony was a quality outfit...guess things have changed.

I just bought it last week. And it was amazing how the picture and color and everything! It was delivered by CEVA and very much on time. The driver carried the TV upstairs to my apartment with me and carefully placed it on the stand. After I have tested and everything looked ok, and after I have signed the paperwork, he waited there in patience. Watched the rest the of the Olympics in excitement.

Customer Review: Terrible Customer Service. Do not order.

Less than 3 months after purchasing this TV it broke. It wants to power cycle every 15-20 seconds. Sony customer service can not provide an authorized repair center in my market area that is open past 5PM CST Mon-Fri. Sony wants me to take a vacation day to fix their defective product. I did not purchase their TV Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM CST, why should I have to have it fixed during those hours? Customer service has no more options for me except to write a letter to the review committee. I had to write a letter and I'm still waiting on a reply. Sony does not empower it's customer service employees the power to satisfy a customer who has a broken TV. I have never received this poor level of customer service on a product that was $1800. Unless you have an unlimited amount of vacation to have them repair your TV when it breaks stay away from this product!

I'll just state why I picked this TV over a similarly featured Samsung with a lower price.

1. Sony reliability. Sony TVs usually score high for reliability. I also know somebody who installs home theaters and he stated he has never had any complaints about Sony LCDs, Plasmas, TVs, etc. I'd rather spend more for a TV that doesn't break than deal with hassles of getting it repaired under an extended warranty (which I did buy).

2. The audio on this TV is good. A lot of LCDs out there have horrid speakers on them - no bass, hard to understand voices, etc. I don't have a separate speaker system so good speakers were required. More importantly, even if I did have a receiver+speakers, do I want to turn them on to watch the news, Oprah, and reruns of Magnum P.I.? Do you want the speaker system on when your kids are watching cartoons at 8AM on Saturday?

3. The picture quality. I think Samsung LCDs have deeper blacks and richer colors. At the same time, I've always thought the picture on Samsung TVs to look over processed and fake, just like when you see an advertisement in a magazine and it's obvious somebody really overdid the photoshop work. I think this TV produces an image that is more true to life. I prefer the picture quality this TV produces.

4. The screen is not glossy. Samsung seems to be in the habit of using glossy screens for their more expensive TVs. Unfortunately glossy TVs also reflect daylight from windows. This Sony TV was placed in a room with a lot of windows and there are no issues with the light coming into the room.
It's a great TV. I have no complaints.

I might note that 2 of this model, "used", were available at the same

Customer Review: Mediocre performance from a quality name

The M-Series 26" Sony Bravia has a nice looking HD picture but standard definition (SD) pictures are horrible and sound quality is poor. Once all the picture parameters are set for HD, these programs have great detail and resolution. Unfortunately, SD pictures are very soft, color rendition is poor and contrast is poor. Sound quality is tinny and sorely lacking in bass information.
I bought this set beacuse of years of enjoyment with my 25" XBR from the late 1980's that still produces a great looking picture and has never seen the inside of a repair shop. But this M-series Bravia is a big disappointment given that some channels I enjoy are not currently offered in HD. That will change in time, but I thought any Sony product, even an entry level model, would be of better quality than this unit.

Customer Review: One complain ...

I purchased this TV and the price was good and the delivery was good too. The picture is clear. One complain I have is that it takes like 20 seconds to view the screen after I press the power button. I don't know if it is because i do not have HD transmission but I doubt it because I have a 32" Sharp Aquos and it takes just five seconds to display something on the screen. I may have to check with the Sony website.

In general i am satisfied but i dont think it should take 20 seconds to display something on the screen.

Customer Review: Good Time Charlie

Good while it lasted. Purchased the unit new from Amazon and received it on Jun 1, 2008. After almost 3 months of problem free service the unit completely lost the picture. Unit will power on but no picture. After troubleshooting with SONY had the option of exchanging with refurb unit or have local service repair it. Took the path of the local Sony Authorized service thinking this would be the least hassle. A week latter after the service company picked up the unit I still have no status on the repair only it has been assigned to a service tech and if parts are required another 5-8 days.
All this would have to happen during the Olympic! Not too excited about the Sony brand at this time.

Customer Review: A Sony non-XBR set at at even better price!

As a previous owner of a Sony 40XBR4, I was skeptical of a Sony set that was not one of the XBR series. Consequently, I discovered the "Z" series which has most of the XBR features, but at an even better price.
The KDL-46Z4100/B is one great set with a picture to match. This model doesn't have the x.v color feature, but has all the other bells and whistles of the XBR for hundreds less.
The "Z" series features a TV Guide programming feature. Since most people have either a digital cable box or satellite receiver, I question how many out there could actually make use of this feature.
Checking out the Xross Media Bar setup menu it is easy to get lost in the amazing amount of controls available to the user. This may look like a minus, but it is really a plus.
LCD TVs are known for their slimness, but this model really outdoes the competition. With a one-inch thickness, it should fit most anywhere--especially on the wall.
If you are looking for a state-of-the-art LCD TV, look no farther than the KDL-46Z4100 series. Its picture and features will amaze you.

If you are in the market for a 32" LCD Flat Screen TV this is the only one to get. The price is in the middle range between cheaper Chinese models and more expensive Korean and Japanese models AND ITS A SONY. It is a perfect TV. The picture is excellent and the HD pictures are extraordinary. I have owned, and currently own SONY TV (s), and have always been pleased with their performance and trouble free longevity. I have a 2001 Model, one of the first HD TV's, still working perfectly and I am confident this new one will do the same.

I was looking for a flat-screen for quite some time. I only use this TV for my XBOX 360 and display it at 720p and it looks... beautiful. I can't believe I own it, actually. I paid $650 (not including tax) at my local computer store. I am surprised there was no hitch. I've played on TV's that have a bad refresh rate, and for gaming, that's a deal-breaker, and this has no "image residuals." I can't testify to how it looks with cable, or blue-ray, but with my 360 of which I play graphic intensive games, it's pretty much perfect. Setting up the stand is easy too you just screw in the bolts and you're done. Doesn't come with a coaxial cable (for cable). I might still hook this up to my laptop for an external monitor deal, but am in no rush to do it, but it is possible and one of the reasons I bought it. Samsung is good, a few other good makers out there, this one's right there with them. Sleek looking too.

The Sony Bravia 37" LCD HDTV is what you'd expect from Sony - not cheap, but outstanding quality. The picture is superb, with the highest resolution currently available (not that most sources can provide it yet), and no blurring during action scenes (at least to my eyes).
There's a large number and variety of inputs that should match anyone's needs, and outputs for audio if you wan't to send it to a receiver. I have it hooked to a TIVO Series 3 and an Onkyo Audio/Video receiver.

I have had this TV for 2 months now and could not be happier. This set produces excellent picture quality, amazing black levels and vibrant colors. The new Bravia Engine 2 also improves with 120Hx motion processing from Sony XBR4 line. My TV is located in a well lit room and the semi-matte display was a must. This TV delivers many useful settings to let you have the full freedom of making this TV truly yours. The PQ on 1080p material such as blu-ray movies or games is phenomenal. Broadcasted 1080i/720p HD sources look very good - all depending on your provider and signal strength. SD quality is good too but again it varies from channel to channel.
For everyday use, this TV will get some immediate props for its picture delivery from any viewer. If you like sports, you can expect unrivaled video processing of fast action. If you enjoy movies, this Sony offers specific combination of settings to complement the true 24p cinematic picture.
Since blu-ray movies are still expensive I have done a lot of testing by watching normal DVD's on my PS3 - and I have to tell you, those DVDs look better that HD broadcasts from Comcast. If feels almost unreal when you get to watch older movies with such clarity as if those movies were shot just few years ago.
Keep in mind that sets vary and your have a different environment - so you don't have to use these settings verbatim. But it should give you a good start without professional calibration. Just make sure not to leave the setting at the default given Vivid - since companies set most TVs at the brightest picture setting to compete against other sets in the bright store rooms. Otherwise you may be get a second hand tan from the picture =)

Sound quality is excellent if you are not planning a more powerful sound system. The set features plenty of ports - so you can accomodate various multiples of your electronics.

Do not buy this tv if you have a Playstation 3 system, it will max out at 1080i and your games will look jagged and dotted, backgrounds look pladed out. I own this thinking it would display at 1080p and it was an expensive mistake. Blu-Ray looks great! Regular DVD's also look awesome. But its not FULL HD, its TRUE HD. I quickly realized after purchase that my television was defective; six months later it is still defective, and JVC has been less than helpful in facilitating repairs.

Customer Review: Best 40-50" LCD available
I purchased this TV at a military exchange in September 07 for $1700 after a manager's rebate, a first time credit card 10% off and a manufacturer's rebate (the perfect storm of sales). After getting it home and using it for several weeks, I would have paid twice that.
It has a beautiful picture. VERY dark blacks. Colors are beautiful and sharp but in 1080p, it's soft enough that it doesn't hurt your eyes during extended watching.
I would 100% recommend this TV to anyone and everyone. I have had zero problems with it, even the on screen menu that isn't very intuitive is a breeze after several operations.

Customer Review: Great Package at a Great Price

I bought this TV at Video Only for $925 on 12/15/06 (best price going anywhere that I could find), and am very pleased. I pretty much think that CNET's review is right on for how it performs. It's got great detail, seemingly true color, and nice features--all that fit the needs of my 15 x 30 living room. There are more than adequate inputs, and though the remote's clunky, it's easy to setup and tweak settings to fit the room/lighting. I'm also happy with the sound, since I do not plan to connect it to a theater system any time soon--the TV's sound captures all but the very lowest rumble of bass (I compared in the store, knowing I would not be using a theater system, and this TV's sound won hands down). As for drawbacks, again read the CNET review. They're minor for an HDTV in this price range--for me, the blacks are fine with adequate detail, and the "styling" of the silver TV case (with matte black screen frame, which is important) is subtle, which fits in well in the 1913 "craftsman" house I live in. All and all, I'm quite happy.

Customer Review: Beware...

Check your return policy carefully -- you will want to avoid having to deal with the manufacturer's warranty at all costs. I have the larger model of this television. Though the picture quality is good, I have found it to be overshadowed by (in my opinion) very poor customer service at JVC. I quickly realized after purchase that my television was defective; six months later it is still defective, and JVC has been less than helpful in facilitating repairs.

Great LCD television

I've had the LT 40FN97 for four months now and am very pleasd with it's performance. The SD pictures are overall great, and the HD is outstanding, razor sharp. While shopping for this at a local video store and comparing it's picture to the much more expensive other brands I couldn't understand why the other tv's were getting so much attention from the other shoppers. The JVC picture was as good as if not better than all of them. The picture settings (color, brightness, etc.) took some tweaking before I was satisfied, but that's true for any TV.
I'm not a gamer so I can't comment on this set's performance in that area or as a computer monitor. I bought the JVC to watch TV and DVD's, so for those purposes the 40FN97 more than met my expectations. The fact that it doesn't "accept" 1080p input seems irrelevent in that almost all HD programming is sent as 1080i. What the JVC does is convert that to a 1080p picture, and it's spectacular. For the price you can't go wrong (paid 1799.00, have seen it since for 1499.00). Oh, and by the way, don't waste your money on expensive HDMI cables. Experts and techs will tell you that there's no difference between a $200 cable and a $10 cable. Got mine online for $7.00 and don't see how I could possibly get a better picture on HD with a different cable.
Anyway, I highly recommend the JVC LT 40FN97 for TV and DVD viewing.

Customer Review: Good DVD picture, average on HD channels

We had this TV for 5 months. The best feature was the USB reader that we could use to see pictures without hooking up the camera. However, the USB reader was broken in the 2nd week. We can't use it anymore. The picture quality is very good with DVD. We hook up the TV to cable and have the basic HD channels. The picture quality on the HD channels are good, but not excellent. We can see the dots on the screen. We were comparing the JVC with the Toshiba Regza. The Toshiba had better picture quality, better contrast. The only thing I didn't like about the Toshiba is the shiny frame. And JVC has matt finish. This set also doesn't have a Contrast selection. Overall JVC is a good TV since JVC is a part of Panasonic.

Customer Review: Great in some ways, average/lousy in others...

Granted, at this time there are not alot of 40" LCDs to choose from at this time. This is definitely at least an 'average' item within it's class/price range.

My setup: DirectTV H20 (no HD package purchase as of yet) and high quality z300 Monster component cables, Phillips HDMI cable, Zenith silver surfer antenna, Pioneer DVD (non-progressive) jukebox player.
Here's the experience I've had after 1 month with my 40" JVC:
Pros: Super anti-glare screen, had zero dead pixels, upconversion works well with non-prog DVD player (good scaler), swivel base, attractive (not gaudy) appearance, HDMI, HDTV built-in tuner, good pickup of off-air HDTV channels, excellent color accuracy (within SMALL viewing angle range and with proper menu setup, see CONS), fairly good Standard Def 480i picture using high quality cables, excellent HDTV quality. Component input looks slightly better than HDMI.
Cons: NON-uniform screen brightness, absolutely LOUSY viewing angle range (unless you are directly in front of the TV you notice the washout of contrast/color immediately - less than 1 ft. range left-to-right I would say), only 1 component video input, screen anomalies galore while tv adjusts native resolution (this has GOT to be bad for the tv over time - it's scary while watching), glossy black bezel shows much glare (why glossy? how about matte?), remote and menu are very cumbersome/difficult to navigate, widely spread out inputs produces longer cable runs.
Mainly, if JVC would improve the viewing angle range/screen uniformity and remove the ugly/scary anomalies during channel changes (up/down conversions) they would basically have a winner.
So, TV gets returned and I'll try again while expanding my horizons to include 37" LCD's I guess. Hope this was a helpful review !

The TV works great in all aspects except one. There is a fiberoptic audio output port which works fine when the TV is in "digital" mode. It does not operate in analog which causes me some grief as I have it hooked to my sound system and I have to use the TV speakers when in analog. Some of that is probably due to the fact that I am tryng to get a TIVO the TV and my AV receiver DVD player and VCR to all "play nice" together. I think if I were to subscribe to an HDTV service I could get around that problem. As it is I can receive a good many digital channels on Comcast at my present level of service (non digital). My only other gripe is the treatment the unit got in shipping. Came via Roadway Freight and I very nearly turned it down because of external damage to the carton. I took a big chance and accepted delivery but I sure hope they find another shipper as the roadway deliverey man handled it like a sack of spuds.

Customer Review: Can't ask for anything more... but got more than I thought!

I was first extremely attracted to the sexy, elegant and understated looks of this LCD TV but the rest seemed to have one important better feature... the higher contrast ratio. Until one day I saw it at Best Buy next to a super expensive LCD TV, famous brand name and they were both side by side playing the same program when I noticed blacks and grays looked exactly the same on both televisions. It seems JVC LCD tv's have an extra feature to boost blacks that is not accounted for only in the contrast ratio numbers. I WAS SOLD! After taking it home I only found a lot more to like about this tv. It has become my new computer monitor since, dvi to hdmi (computer to tv hdmi) yields an AMAZING picture... no you can't see any pixels not even if you get as close as possible, at least not with windows vista and GeForce 8, you even get the post (computer startup before logon and bios settings)! Another EXCELLENT feature I haven't seen on any other LCD TV of this size is the capability to pivot it side to side and having the circular design in the front it never seems out of square even if it's facing towards one side. The settings are endless and I'll stop here or I'll never finish. All I can say is you'll never regret this purchase!

Customer Review: Switched from plasma....couldn't be happier

I tried a top of the line 50" Panasonic plasma out for almost a month, and it just didn't resonate with me. Not sure what it was exactly, but it just didn't make me say "wow" when I watched it. For a person that was upgrading from a non-progressive CRT TV, that is unacceptable.
So, I did even more research, and came upon the 47" JVC. it was priced well, and it had the specs I wanted. I returned the plasma, hooked up my ps3, and my jaw dropped open.
I'm a firm believer in LCD now. I have seen absolutely no issues with LCD that I have read about. Not a single blur, absolutely no banding, lag time, or subpar performance. The picture is bright, super crisp, and just amazingly real.
to tell you the truth, the picture is so amazing, that I often don't pay enough attention to what I am watching because I get so taken up by how amazing everything looks. I suppose that will wear off though.
It should be noted that while the picture quality is amazing, a few things do bother me. They weren't important enough to bring it down a star, but worth mentioning anyway.

-I found the tv somewhat slow ot respond to the remote. Everything feels labored in the menus, and many other actions don't happen immediately, but after a short delay.
-switching through inputs and analog channels is equally slow. It takes a while to go anywhere, and it can be frustrating.
-The menus are archaic looking and clumsy to navigate. I can't understand why the menus on a 1080P television look like they came out of an Atari video game.
These issues take a very distant back seat to the importance of picture quality, so they didn't warrant a lowered rating in my opinion. I have never looked back since buying this, and I'm thrilled with my new TV.

Customer Review: JVC surprisingly SHARP!

I bought this TV for $699. I thought it was an average value with free shipping and no tax. I have this TV connected to an over the air antenna. The picture is superior to my 37" Olevia LCD HD TV in every aspect. I also own a 52" Toshiba DLP, of which the picture is awesome. But the JVC is just as bright as the DLP, much brighter than the Olevia, and I have it in a well lit room. The color is amazing, and best of all, when the signal is not HD, but just regular (ananlog?) like commercials or non-HD broadcasts the picture is superior to any other HD TV I've experienced. The speakers are not great, but that's not what I bought an HD PICTURE TV for! I never thought JVC would be in the same league as Sony or Samsung at this price. If you need a 32" LCD TV, this one gets it done. Based on my short ownership, I recommend it highly.

i did a thorogh research before landed on this one. i do like the 120Hz Sony better, but i decided not to pay $2500 for a 40" and for my first HDTV set.

JVC has not disappointed me. i am a fan of JVC, my last tube set lasted 13 years. the picture quality is superb for this new set, color is vivid, natural and smooth. i am surprised to find the price has actually gone up!! i paid $1,100 and now is $1444? wow!

the sound quality is really good as well. setup was easy, the craftsmanship is good, very clean design. very happy overall.

Great TV, totally happy with it.
I've been researching for months now and finally decided on the Samsung A550 series. I just got the TV 2 days ago, my first HDTV. I was originally planning on getting a 46" but couldn't find the deal i wanted so i ended up picking the 52". I was kind of nervous since i'm getting a larger sized TV than planned and might be overwhelmed with the size (9' viewing distance). When we got it set-up it was awesome. It was big but not overwhelming. The size was just perfect and couldn't be happier. I liked the matte/semi-gloss screen because i have 2 big windows behind the couch directly in-front of the TV and no glare at all even with the blinds open. This is one of the main reasons i opted for the 550 series. The viewing angles are very nice too since i have a love seat and a recliner chair on the side of my living room and it can be easily viewed without any problems. I didn't have HD service yet, so i just hooked up indoor antennas to pick up OTA (over-the-air) channels and the built-in digital tuner picked up both SD and digital channels and some HD channels. I was watching the NBA finals Game 5 and was blown away. I was getting 720p feed from ABC HD and the picture was awesome. I did also get some 1080i HD feeds from OTA and it looked great. I can't wait to get some HD channels (dish/cable) and PS3 bluray with this set. Right now my set-up is OTA and my laptop hooked-up to the TV so i'm just scratching the tip of the iceberg on the full potential of this TV. The sound is ok if you use one of the Amazon reviewers audio settings which i belive was taken from AVSforums and it is really worlds of difference from the default settings. Overall, this is a great and wonderful TV.

Excellant Picture
I received my television faster then expected, and was very happy with the results. Picture quality is astounding through HDMI, like looking out a glass window. Although my DVD player has 720p output and the Sharp television can except as high as 1080p, I found transitioning my television to 720p left the image grainer than if I just left it at 480p. Of course, once I make the purchase of a Blue-ray player I doubt I'll find myself using anything less than 1080p, even if they say you can't tell the difference.
Sound quality is okay, it lacks a certain robust impression, you won't be feeling the explosions or anything, but the dialouge comes through and soundtracks eminate clearly enough.
Because I don't have HD cable or satellite, it was of no great concern to me when making the purchase that regular television would be my bread and butter in terms of it's use. I found images to be acceptable, and made of few adjustment to contrast and color till I was satisfied. All in all, this being my first HD television, so far so good.

Nice but not nice enough
It is a nice TV/Monitor what ever your purpose be. But I got it with the intent of using it as a computer monitor. I was excited as I took it out of the box but that excitement soon dwindled as I sought to use my higher resolutions and the TV was not able to do so. I am a graphics student so I wanted to use this screen to get as much screen real-estate as possible but I was a bit disappointed in that department. The screen goes up to some higher resolutions but not past the 1200 mark. And I wanted to use it at 1800+. So, if you have the same intent buy another screen as I am doing or get a video to HDMI converter and see how that treats you. Aside from that the screen is nice. The speakers are okay but there are far better speakers on lower end screens. Just something to keep in mind. All in all it is a really nice screen and looks gorgeous. If i ever get a flat screen TV it will probably be this one. So you decide. Happy shopping :)

Great Picture, Great Purchase
We researched tv's for about a year before we bought this Sony 52". The price went down alot recently, and now seemed like a good time to buy. We received it Friday (about 11 days sooner than the estimated delivery date!) and so far we are thrilled! We now wish we had not waited so long. The picture is amazing, and we just have basic cable. There are a few HD channels which blow you away, but even the regular stations are great. We didn't know what we were missing. This is an awesome set at a great price and we would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a flat screen. Go for the big 52, it's worth it. With Amazon's free shipping, it's an even better deal. The delivery person would only plug it in, per my request, but I was able to get it set up in a few minutes. Love my new TV!!!!!!!

One more accolade
Like virtually everyone else I mentally suffered over whether or not to buy this particular MODEL and whether I should buy it "on-line." The thought of purchasing something this expensive without a "store-front" that I could run to and secure help seemed terrifying.

After paying a visit to the local brick and mortar stores I found little comfort in their expertise and certainly no comparison in the PURCHASE PRICE. Add to the total the 8.25% sales tax in our community (roughly $200 more) and another $75 deliver fee and Amazon became a no brainer.

When the delivery men arrived I was very concerned that they might not deliver it to our basement. But both men were very polite, carried it down and set it up. They even took the cardboard and wrappings with them. I did give them a small "tip for what I felt was going the extra mile. When they left the driver said "Please call us if not any reason the set has an issue while under warrenty. We will pick it up for exchange or service for no fee." Wow!

I love this set. Having spent only a couple of hours with it I can state it is well worth the money. Perhaps the gadget freaks will find the LCD black not as full as the plasma but it works for me. The sound system was also a very pleasant surprise. I had considered purchasing the add on stereo system but for the moment what comes in the TV is very adequate.

Even if you have an existing DVD player do consider purchasing the Sony DVD NS700H player with HDMI & upscaling (plus hdmi cable) (about $72 from Amazon. Playing my "old" dvd discs are really very acceptable with this technology. Because of this I plan to wait before purchasing a Blueray player/recorder until the price comes down.

I did not purchase the extended warranty. Only time will tell if this is the right purchase but given the fact that I own only ONE warranty (my laptop) I know I am ahead even if I have a problem after a year. My other Sony sets (not LCDs) ran over 10 years with never a problem.

All in all this purchase has been a better return than any of my recent stock purchases :)

I just got this Samsung LN-46A650 a couple weeks ago and after a couple weeks of watching BluRay movies with a PS3, HD programming & HD sports via Comcast & an off air antenna, viewing family photos & movie trailers from an Apple TV, and playing Call of Duty 4 & Burnout Paradise on a PS3, and....this TV is freaking incredible!

I've had different kinds TVs (CRTs, DLP, Plasma & LCD), but this by far is the best TV I've ever owned (famous last words, right?). This replaced a 3rd generation Samsung DLP. If you watch HD programming, HD movies & HD sports, get this TV. If you're a gamer, get this TV.

I've had no issues with banding, flashing lights in the corners, random shutoffs, dead pixels, hazing, whatsoever. I'm no expert, but most of the complaints on the forums are from people who just like to complain. Turn your brightness down and enjoy your TV! Colors are realistic and vibrant. It's got dark blacks and bright whites. Brightness can subjective, but Standard setting is fine. Looks great even when it's turned off.

I used to be a big fan of (and a former employee) Sony, but I have to admit, Samsung is blowing away Sony with pricing and quality. No offense fanboys.

I highly recommend buying through Amazon. Transaction was a breeze. Ceva delivery was great. They delivered four days earlier than promised. After checking Ceva's website, I called them a day early to request an earlier delivery, they couldn't so they set up the next day. But they showed up later that evening anyway.

Beautiful picture, the shiny screen is a slight negative.
I've only just got my hands on this beauty, but the 5 movies I've watched have been breath taking. My old Sceptre 1080p set from 2 years ago made the Blu Ray version of Layer Cake look rather disappointing with jagged motion
artifacts.

The Samsung works very much better and you get that "almost there" feeling. The touch of red is hardly noticeable, and because of the shiny screen you'll want to keep this TV in a darkened room anyway, so you won't notice it. That's my one negative, the screen reelects everything.

Personally I am not bothered as I have the set back lit and in my old home movie room which is completely dark, but some thing to consider when buying.

What an AMAZING picture!
I've had the Samsung LN40A550 for 2 weeks now and absolutely love this TV.

Delivery was hassle free and quicker than Amazon predicted.

I'm using an HDMI connection between my Comcast cable box/DVR and the TV and the picture quality is spectacular! The sound quality is perfectly acceptable as well. Although I have the TV connected to a home theater sound system, I only run that when watching a movie or sporting event. I see no need to have it on for regular TV programming, since the sound from this TV is very good.

I agree with the accolades others have given to the Samsung LN40A550; it is truly exceptional. Thanks Amazon for an great deal on an excellent HDTV!

What else can be said?
There's not much detail I can add to what's already been written, so I'll just add one more '5 star' review, and a few brief/random thoughts.

Like several other reviewers here, I did quite a bit of big-box store shopping before ordering this unit. I'm pretty particular about my electronics, so I feel I made the best choice with this model. Sony has some catching up to do now. ;-)

After watching BBC's Planet Earth Series on a standard def TV, and then finally getting to experience it on this TV, I finally understand all the praise over HD. In a word, S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G.

The built in speakers are terrible; very anemic and tinny. In this day and age, most folks are setting up with audio equipment, so, I guess the built-in speakers are for the most part, going to be overlooked.

Another complaint to lodge, but not the fault of the TV: standard def cable picture is awful; blurry and over saturated. Some channels look fine, most are less-than-pleasing. I'm starting to get accustomed to it, but overall, YUK.
FYI: You can bypass your SD cable box to get over-the-air HD channels (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, etc)--just connect the cable directly to the TV. I get about 8 HD channels on Comcast. I also get pay-per-views and on-demand people are watching in my neighborhood on the upper channels. BONUS!

Back light problems
I just got this home and discovered that the frame was warped just under the Samsung name plate on the bottom of the TV. This is letting about a 3 inch band of light to show through, which is very annoying.

And except for the horrible sounding speakers, this is a very good TV for the money. The picture and color are excellent.

This is a good television for the price I paid. I got it for around $1500 with shipping. The image quality is good but I have found that different networks have different signal qualities. The unit states that it has a auto-levelling sound feature. I have not found that it works. Overall this is a good television and I would recommend it.

I purchased this television after extensive research from the Sams Club website for 750.00 plus shipping...no tax. Is that a steal or what!

This was my first HDTV purchase...and I promised myself that I wasn't going to get stuck with something for years that I wouldn't be happy with. I did tons of research and found that there were many low quality LCD HDTVs out there that cost more than what I spent on this (walk through the Walmart HDTV selection and you will see what I'm referring too)

What sold me on this television? Aside from the brightness, constrast ratios, and refresh times...which are all excellent...the SOUND ON THIS TV IS AWESOME! This HDTV comes with 2x15w channel speakers that just sound superb...especially with the HDMI connection.

My only gripe is probably that this only comes with one HDMI connection. HDMI is the only way to go these days if you want a pure digital experience. When I upgrade to an HD DVD player...I will have to run my two HDMI signals (one from cable/one from dvd) to a receiver, and then run a single HDMI cable to the TV.

Aside from this single issue, which really isn't too major, I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

I've only seen this television listed online, with Sam's having by far the best price (Amazon thinks this TV is worth almost 1100.00)...and no where else...not at Circuit City, Walmart, Best Buy, Target, or at any of the Sams clubs on site. I expect the reason for this is that this TV at this price would undercut everything else they are selling.

If you can find it, jump on this baby!

Great TV with exeptional Amazon service!
After many months of researching what LCD television I should purchase, all of the information and feed back lead to the Sony KDL-40V3000. So far I am happy with the television, but I really want to share how impressed I am with Amazons quality service, pricing and shipping. I was very reluctant on ordering such a pricy item on line. I was told via email that it may me up to two weeks for shipping, which is not too bad for free shipping. Less that one week after the email I get a call from the delivery service asking me when it would be convenient for me to have them bring out the television. They gave me a three hour window of when the would deliver. They showed up on time and carried the television up two flights of stairs and unboxed it, plugged it in and made sure it was working. Incredible picture quality
Shopped this product at local big box stores to compare pix quality. Even after seeing it in stores was thrilled at the quality of contrast ratio, it does make a difference. True black and white with remarkable definition.

DON'T BUY THIS ONE!
This TV seemed awesome at first... However, after only 5 months the LCD screen went bad. The manufacture warranty covers it but guess what, we have to wait a month for the part to be delivered. The Toshiba service people were nasty when I protested so were still waiting for the part. No March Madness, no TV... Furthermore, I asked Amazon to help by contacting Toshiba on my behalf and they didn't in fact they even bother to respond to my request.

Sorry to say it's a "no" for me
I wanted to like this TV, but had to return it after 2 weeks. Maybe it's because I have the Panasonic TH-50PZ700U plasma and have gotten completely spoiled by it. The picture on the Toshiba doesn't compare to my Panasonic even though both are 1080p. Maybe I just prefer plasma over LCD, but the standard channels aren't nearly as crisp and even the HD picture seems bland. This is probably because the blacks just aren't as pronounced on the Toshiba.

I had a few other issues with this TV. For some reason the set would lose video occasionally while switching channels. Had to unplug it for video to come back. As another reviewer noted, the picture from side view of the TV is horrible. Lastly, I couldn't find a picture size that I liked - Theaterwide 1 worked OK for HD channels but was a bit too zoomed in, Natural worked OK for standard channels but they seemed somewhat blurry.

Unfortunately this TV was just average - too bad, as I got a great deal on it.

Very pleased with this television. we did tons of research and think it was well worth it. great picture. great value. looks nice. we havent really noticed the green push you hear about - but we found the settings online in the service menu if it becomes apparent.

Just an awesome TV-even without HD sources
After a lengthy research period, I finally settled on the 50" PZ77U. I'm happy to report that after two weeks of use the experience has been fantastic. First off, the picture is just gorgeous. Of course I expected that with HD cable and a Blu-Ray (PS3) player -- it's jaw-droppingly great -- but I was very impressed with the SD picture of this unit. Sure, it pales in comparison to HD, but the SD channels don't have that processed look that makes everything appear like it's been through a photoshop watercolor filter. I've seen that on a number of LCDs and plasmas before and it drives me nuts. Remember, they never will show a SD signal to you at most stores-- it's always a sharp HD signal. The good SD clarity is even more impressive for a 50" model.

I'm still in the break-in period-- trying to make sure the phosphors burn in easily; I downloaded a burn-in disc from eaprogramming.com, which has been helpful.

Lastly, a few nice words for the purchase experience via Amazon and 6ave: The unit was shipped to my home in Michigan within a week; upon delivery the unit was inspected as required; everything was great. I'd certainly use 6ave again.

I highly recommend this TV... first of all, why buy LCD for the same size when you can buy plasma for $1000 less? if u are worried about light reflection on the plasma TVs this panasonic has anti-glare in it... and the colors are jaw dropping....
This panasonic in specific I highly recommend because Panasonic is the 2nd best in Plasma after Pioneer (which is way over priced)... the 50PZ700U has better speakers than this one (but who buys a 50 inch TV without seperate speakers anyways) and u can hook your laptop to the TV and use it with the TV, but you would have to pay $300-400 more for it... if u need a 3rd HDMI input then go with the PZ750U nd play $600 more for it (I am sure 2 HDMI is more than u need)... so if u dont need to hook ur laptop to the TV and don't need a side HDMI cable that u probably wont use, then save urself $300-600 by buying this awesome TV right here, because the technology is the same...
I have an LCD Samsung and I have this 50PZ77u and i love my panasonic more.. with w panasonic blue ray (which uses the same remote control and is way better than the sony blue ray or samsung blue ray) then you wont go wrong... add some nice surround sound system and u will be amazed ...

Beautiful Picture, trim profile, Sound lacking.
I did some extensive research before buying this 52" Sharp Aquos LC52D64U. I almost bought the LC52D82U, but after reading a review on Amazon that pointed out some of the deficiencies of the 82U model over the newer 64U model, I decided that was the one to get. I already had a 32" Sharp LCD, not an Aquos model and was pleased with the looks and picture, I was not pleased with the sound output on the 32", it lacked real 'punch' at the high end. and that only goes to '60', whatever that means. the 32" advertises a 10W output on each audio channel. So when I saw the specs for the 52" and it showed 15W per channel I assumed with the larger output that would take care of the problem of too low a volume like the 32" WRONG! The 52" has the same problem with volume as the 32". For some reason the actual volume of the set from a setting of 35 to 60 couldn't be 1 or 2 decibels. Being very pleased with the picture quality and the arrangement of the outputs I decided to take the Audio Output to my Bose Acoustic Wave machine and that solved the problem of weak and muddled audio. Now in fairness to the Sharp, my wife has no problems in hearing the sharp but I am a little hard of hearing and like the louder volume range, which Sharp seems to have a problem achieving. I do like the smaller profile being a little smaller than the 82U and 25% thinner works for me. High Definiion channels look awesome and HD-DVD likewise, but now I have to think, 'Blu Ray'. It's always something.

Great HDTV, great price and fast shipping
After researching HDTVs online and in stores, we settled on this 52" Sharp HDTV. Glad we did. Sharp colors and great sound. We haven't seen any of the issues others have written about. Plenty of inputs so I can connect my Tivo, DVD system, Playstation and Comcast digital cable box. I still have room to connect a blu-ray player if I buy one.

The Amazon price was by far the cheapest we could find online or in stores (Best Buy, Circuit City). Shipping only took 5 days and the delivery company called to arrange delivery. They called again to give me notice they were coming, moved my old picture tube TV from the stand, set up the Sharp HDTV and made sure it worked.

I was a bit nervous ordering an expensive HDTV online, but it turned out to be a great experience.

Beautiful TV
I've had the Sharp 52" for several weeks now and we love it. Awesome picture quality, and it's REALLY big. I like the extra thin screen but was disappointed that the wall mount brackets are as thick as the TV; kinda spoils the effect. In the end we chose not to use the wall mount because of that and instead use the stand on a table.
I specifically chose this model because of the thinness and the non-glare screen. We use it in a family room with many windows and lots of sunlight, so I've been pleasantly surprised that it has almost no glare off the screen and looks great even in the middle of the day.
No issues with it at all. Highly recommended, especially if you have a room with lots of sunlight and windows.

I researched this tv for my wife and ordered it for her. She is very pleased with it. I installed it and after following prompts on the screen, it said it had found 11 digital channels and 12 analog channels. It gets channels we didn't know existed, using the antenna. I had never heard of decimal channels, like 9.4, Create. Now, after hooking up to directv,without subscribing to HD, the reception is exceptional, without the HD, and when we want to get the HD local channels, she switches over to the antenna. Satelite doesn't bring in any of the decimal channels.

Now, I would like to buy a 26" Phillips LCD HDTV for my den. Whew I ordered tv they were not available.

Broken in 2 months
This TV was good for the price until it started having major problems seven weeks after I purchased it. The picture started jumping up and down on the screen, blinking as it did this. Then, after several minutes of flashing, the screen would go blank. The customer service experience has been TERRIBLE, which is why I took the time to write this review--to warn people before they buy this TV. The person who was supposed to fix this TV under full warranty tried to charge me for labor, which was supposed to be covered. After that happened, Phillips claimed there was no one else in my area who could fix the TV. So, when the TV wasn't repaired correctly the first time, I had to take it back to the same person who tried to steal money from me. Do not buy this TV! Of the few reviews I read, another person had almost the exact same problem with their TV. The broken television combined with a poor customer service experience is why I have rated this TV one star.

Amazing Picture Quality, Great Features for a reasonable price
I have had this TV for almost a month now and it is absolutely amazing to watch HD programming on this television.

Please note the model number when looking at a Philips TV. Walmart and SAM's club both sell Philips 1080p 47" TVs but the models are different. I bought mine from SAMS and this one had HD Pixel Engine, while the one at Walmart doesn't.

Anyway, back to this TV. I am one of those people who like to do a lot of research before a purchase. I had the following requirements for a TV:
- Great Image quality. I still remember looking at some Plasmas and hated the fact that the you couldn't see anything on the screen if you not directly in front of them. I know Plasmas have gotten a lot better, and in my humble opinion LCD's are better. I can actually watch this TV from my kitchen which is atleast at a 45 degrees angle.
- Good for at least 5 years. This where the 1080p part comes in. Most programming today is either done in 720p, or 1080i. Only your blu-ray, or HD DVD player will actually be able to utilize the full capacity of 1080p. But I am sure that in future, 1080p programming will be available and I wanted to be prepared.
- Great brand, reasonable price. I love Philips, but I love SONY more. The problem with SONY however is that there products always cost a lot more for comparable set of features. This TV has some amazing features like SONY, just not the dazzling price.

In the end I am pretty satisfied with everything, or may be I am just trying to justify spending $1700 on an idiot box , who knows.

Here are some issues that you should be aware of before you buy an HDTV:
1. Regular programming looks worse. This tv does an excellent job of resizing the image automatically, but it is still a low resolution picture on a huge screen. Remember you don't want horizontal or vertical black bars while watching 4:3 programming because it can cause burn-ins. I know some of you will jump up and say that LCDs don't have that problem. To them I say, READ THE MANUAL. It's available on Philips' website.
2. Burn-ins. I know I covered that in my last point, but again, the manual says that burn-ins can occur, so be careful. I'd rather watch a little stretched out picture than mess up my TV.
3. You have to get HD programming to actually utilize the potential of this mammoth. I am a comcast customer in Florida, and they have a decent selection of HD channels. Remember directv might have more HD channels, but Comcast offers NBC, ABC and all the local channels in HD. It's not how many channels you have in HD, it's how many good channels you have in HD that counts. So before you buy this TV, make sure you have GOOD HD programming in your area.

What is rare for me is that I didn't spend hours and hours reading formal reviews before purchasing this awesome LCD TV. It turns out I made the right choice anyway! Both of the major warehouse stores carry this model. They also have this LCD TV situated next to similar TV's by other manufacturers which makes it great for comparison shopping. This is what sold me! The other brands were 720P and 1080P both in plasma and LCD. You could plainly see that the Philips picture was brighter and sharper! The 720P sets were blurry and washed out. The Philips picture jumps out at you! You can't go wrong on this set! I'm a stickler for image quality and this set has it hands down! Buy it now!

And I will say the set is better than I expected. I was in a Major Store with about 40 TV Sets on one wall. This TV Jumped right out at us and we walked right up to it. Stepped back for 5 minutes and then looked at all the other Sets in the 1500.00 price range 1080P and nothing was close.

I don't know what the guy is talking about when he says the set is not black enough. That Perfect Pixel HD Engine is doing something inside this unit.

I have Comcast with that great Explorer Cable Box, I used the HDMI plugs and I also have the Phillips DVD Player , the one that allows all type of media, DIVX and all. I have a Mac Pro Tower and I can hook the Monitor right up to it. Very Cool. I don't have a Blu Ray yet, I'M still waiting to see the next generation of players, and maybe a Game BR Player may be a good choice. They make Mod Chips for them to do just about anything.

There is a ceiling fan right above the set and that will help keep it cool. These LCD sets run much cooler than a Plasma set and saves a bit on the power bill over plasma.

I like this set so much I'M buying two more, one to ship to mom and one for a guest bedroom. The pedestal base is very nice. My set does not have a clicking problem like I read in another post.

I read consumer reports, all kinds of reviews, and the salesman. Bottom Line, the set has a stunning clear picture and was half 1/2 the price of the Sony. So I got 2 for 1 on this deal. You will not be disappointed with this set.

Don't buy a Plasma just to be cool, the LCD TV's are just as good if not better in many ways. I see many people buying the larger 720P Plasma TV's because they dropped the price to dump them. Take the time to look at a 720P next to a 1080P (Hopefully this set) and you will understand the 1080P is the set to own for the next few years.

This is a long post, but I wanted to give a review from a regular gent who tell's it like it is.

I don't buy a Brooks Brothers Shirt because of the name, I buy them because they custom make each shirt to my neck and sleeve size. Like 18 1/2" neck and 35 1/2" sleeve. Not just S, M, L, XL and a Polo on the pocket. Don't buy something just because of the brand. Look at the all sets and let your eyes make the decision.

When I bought this set, it was a great bargain at $699 for a hi-def set(albeit 720p and not 1080p). Prices change and that would no longer be a great price, but Sharp Aquos quality must also be considered.
The TV is small enough and light enough to be placed on a turntable on a TV table; as such it can serve my bedroom and then pivot to cover another room also(32" is just large enough to be seen at a distance.) Overall it is an excellent set with a remote which easily selects channels and picture settings with easy pre-set buttons to save time and fumbling around.

Great picture sound a little weak
Great pic sound a little weak liked it enough after I bought one for my bedroom connected a hd receiver from direct tv I purchased 2 more I have only had em for 3 weeks but no cons would purchase again...

great style, pleasing image... a good bang for buck HDTV
In terms of fundamental specs, the LC32D43U looks modest on paper compared to the 46" 1080p 120 khz monsters that the big box electronics companies want us to aspire to, but in the real world, this set provides a pleasingly vivid image that does serious justice to good sources. True, 32" looks deficient next to the monster sets on the Best Buy wall, but I was surprised at the great level of detail that this size gets you without squinting - as long as you're at an ideal distance (5-8 feet) you won't need to strain your eyes to see every whisker and wrinkle on a newscaster's face, every football player's number. Also, for those new to the HDTV shopping game, the 720p resolution is really indistinguishable from the more impressive sounding 1080p until you reach much larger sizes (and you have your hands on the rare media that actually takes advantage of such resolution). So while the basic specs don't impress, they should be more than adequate for 5 - 10 years of viewing without being leapfrogged by the Joneses... especially given the pleasing quality of this set's image.

Given high quality sources like a Blu Ray movie or fast-paced, high-res videogame like Burnout: Paradise City, I was impressed with how well the LC32D43U handled some of the more vexing issues LCDs face. With the fast pixel response time, fast action scenes didn't seem to cause any detectable blur. Black areas of the screen, while at times not quite as revealingly detailed as some of the most high-end sets, displayed a pleasingly deep shade of black. If you change the settings to the most mild color temperature, the color is impressively accurate, never begging the picky viewer to mess with the color settings... All in all, I have found it much more of a struggle to find images that do justice to my TV than the other way around.

There are a few minor let-downs. The speakers are useless for anything but low volume watching when you don't want to wake up spouses/kids/roommates. I plugged this TV's audio output into the line input of an unused Klipsch iPod dock and thought they made a nice match, doing justice to the image quality. As I mentioned, black levels are nice and dark, but the detail in those dark areas of the screen can fall somewhat short of the highest end Sonys at times (not nearly enough to be worth nearly double the price, at least for me). The remote is solid and functional (I especially like the customizable "favorites" buttons that let you quickly access 16 of your favorite channels), but not as intuitive as, say, your Tivo remote - common functions are spread out all over the 10-12" remote, forcing you to do a little bit more hunting and pecking to operate than would be ideal.

All in all, this is an excellent and attractively designed TV at a great price, producing vivid images, yet compact enough to not dominate a room. If you're not trying to be the neighborhood Superbowl destination (I'm sure there's someone on your block with a wall-filling Sony competing for that prize), you can't go wrong with this great set.

This is an excellent TV. Excellent picture quality. Sound is good, but with such a tv, surround sound is a must to maximize value.

The only problem is it weighs a bloody ton at 117 lb. By comparison samsung weighs only abt 65 lbs.

This is the LCD TV you are looking for.
First of all, this is my first HD LCD TV. I've done research for the last year trying to find the right TV for the right price.

After looking at Sony, Samsung, Sharp LCD's and the Samsung LED DLP, I stumbled upon the Philips 2PFL7422D on the web. After doing some research on this TV I found that it had all the pro's of the other big name brands but with out any of the con's, such as banding(Sharp) or clouding(Sony)(Note, this information was gathered from other reviews, I had not seen either of these phenomenon's my self).

I'm very happy with this TV. One thing I really like it the screen isn't shiny like Samsung's high end models I was also interested in. My TV is in a very bright location with lot of windows and a shiny screen was a really turn off even though the Samsung's LCD's review very well.

Some things to be aware of is the refresh is 60hMz (120hMz is the current high mark) and the HDMI is 1.0, not 1.3. Also the remote feels cheap but is easy to use.

I'm not a audio/video buff by any means, but I do understand the tech. I have a Xbox 360 and Wii hooked up, both through component cable, and they work great. I played Guitar hero 2 and didn't notice any delay between picture and sound. I also connected it to Comcast Digital and the HD looks great. Watched football this weekend and didn't notice any blur.

If your looking for high quality at a great value, check this TV out.

Best purchase we made.
My husband and I were nervous abt making a purchase for a TV on line, but after receiving the TV we knew it was one of our best purchases yet,and everytime the price went down we called and were refunded the difference!! The picture is so sharp and audio is great.Not a scratch on it. We are very happy with it. Shipping was fast except you do have to call them for delivery date and time because they don't have yr number to call you. Aside from that, shippers placed the TV on stand cleared up box and took it with them. Highly recommend this television...

My friends are sooo jealous
I've had this TV for a couple months now and love it.

I have not been able to experience full 1080p (yet) because all HD broadcasts are in 780p or 1080i. It may be a while before I get to experience to FULL potential of this TV as I am going to wait on BluRay until some new features are added (online content, etc.) and the format is more finalized/established. I did recently order the Pioneer DV-400V-K which will upscale my DVD collection to 1080p (but will only be "near hd" quality) and can't wait to see how it looks.

I love everything else about this TV. The picture was not bad out of the box but I definitely recommend using a DVD made for tuning the set... I used Avia.

I have a couple friends who invite themselves over specifically to see the TV.

I do not have a single complaint so far!

Awesome TV!!!
I did not buy my 52HL167 from Amazon, but I used the site to do research so felt compelled to leave my own review. I have had the TV for nearly 2 months. No issues to speak of. The picture quality is great, in fact I have made no adjustments to the factory settings since it looks so good and I haven't want to mess with them. The glossy black cabinet looks really nice in my new entertainment center - no extra distracting features, just a simple, classy frame and the toshiba logo; you can barely notice the speakers (which have pretty good sound - in fact unless I'm watching a movie or something with music content where it really matters to me, I am more than satisfied to use the TV speakes alone).

From my research, there are some who note motion blur. I have watched football, hockey and basketball and cannot discern any blur. The only time I see it is the white words over the black background of the scrolling update at the bottom of the screen on ESPN. Unless you are obsessed with watching the ESPN updates for more than a few minutes, this will not be an issue for you and will not take away from the joy of this TV. It's not worth spending another $500-$700 for the 120Mhz version, at least not for me.

Lastly, I originally purchased a Panasonic Plasma with the anti-glare coating. I took it back almost immediately. The Toshiba was my LCD choice from the start. I considered a Samsung but didn't think I was getting as much TV for the money at 52" and have had a CRT Toshiba for many years and never had any issues with them. As far as glare, absolutely no issues with this Toshiba and I have 5 large windows in my family room. I won't ever consider plasma again.

STOP LOOKING AROUND, BUY THIS TOSHIBA, YOU'LL LOVE IT!!!

Sony Bravia KDL-32S3000 32 inch 720p LCD HDTV

Amazing picture! Brings HD to life!
This is sort of a comparison between the Sharp 32D62U and this Sony TV. I wasn't satisfied with the Sharp, so I sent it back and got a Sony 32S3000. They are both the same price, but I'm downgrading in resolution to 720p.

I was more impressed with the Sony than the Sharp. After calibrating the Sharp, it didn't blow me away; but after calibrating the Sony... Wow! The image was so sharp and had such good color saturation that it felt like the people were in the room in front of you. The Sony displays very vibrant images that really brings HD to life. The Sharp set didn't do that.

The Sharp TV did have better blacks, although the whole picture seemed too dim as a whole. And I think it had better response time, which is good for gaming. But I wouldn't trade back for a perfect Sharp 32D62U.

...the frame of the Sony looks so much better too. The gloss frame of the Sharp gets very dusty, very quickly, and gets scratched by the dusty particles when you try to wipe the surface. Down with gloss!

Not Completely Blown Away
Okay maybe my expectations were kind of high. I also expected DVDs to appear crystal-clear and was a bit let down by the resolution, though there was vast improvement from what I'd been watching. Some of this is probably owing to my DVD player. Time to upgrade that as well. My major complaint is with a cloudiness on the screen during times when the screen is black, such as when credits roll over a black background. There are lighter spots at the corners of the screen and floating in the middle of the screen. They don't move - they're part of the display, permanently, I expect. Now this is not something you'll ordinarily see during bright scenes, so one can probably overlook it, but when viewing a black screen it may serve as a reminder that they haven't quite gotten the bugs out of this technology yet. I don't believe a product that costs this much should have been released with this kind of flaw, however. If I may offer some advice, I would suggest, when shopping for an LCD set at one of the stores, get someone to help you give it the "black background test".

very happy with my purchase. Delivery was easy, guys brought TV up 2 flights of stairs and set it up and made sure it worked. No real major complaints about the TV, the only thing is that the TV doesn't recognize my Xbox unless it is turned on, in other words, i can't switch to the xbox hdmi input before i turn the xbox on. minor inconvenience otherwise everything is great.

For people looking to step up to full 1080p resolution in a 40-inch flat-panel LCD, Samsung's 2007 model LNT4061FF is a good choice. Love this TV!
I love the TV, the price and the speedy, careful and free shipping. I am so happy with the picture, I don't plan on getting a cable box. The HD is terrific.

Excellent TV, including for gamers.
I spent much time searching through televisions, looking for ones with Game Mode or ones known for no lag. I was a bit unsure how this television would perform, never mind that it had Game Mode. But I am pleased to say it functions well. Playing Final Fantasy on the PS2 or Zelda on a GameCube has been a breeze, just as every game on the Xbox 360. If you are looking for a television that will work well with games that need fast timing, this is an excellent choice.

Picture is another place this television stands out. Even with just standard satellite the picture comes in extremely well. Then when you move on to DVD's, the picture is outstanding. The sound on the other hand, isn't the best but it could be worse. However if you have surround sound, you won't need to worry about this. Luckily for me, I do have surround sound, which eliminates this problem.

Overall, I do highly recommend this HDTV for someone looking for a good brand, a great HDTV but at a decent price that doesn't break the bank.

Broken Right Out Of The Box!
This LCD brought me nothing but problems, It took them a week to get it to me and i took it out the box and it looked great however i plugged it in and all hell broke loose. The screen was broken, i couldn't see anything. When i wanted to get a replacement i couldn't get it.Amazon warehouse only gives refunds on LCD's not replacements. And no telling when i will get the refund or when they will pick it up.Highly Disappointed!

Directv HD box HDMI compatibility?
Does anyone know if this TV has the same HDMI compatability problem when connecting a Dierctv HD receiver as the Philips 42PFL7422D 42" 1080p LCD HDTV? Several of the reviewers of that TV said they had to use the composite video connection to work with the Directv or Dish network HD boxes. Other than the ambilight feature, these two TVs appear to tbe the same, but no one mentioned a problem with this model. Thanks

What's the Buzz and Where's the Glare?
I'm no expert on TVs, but I feel I owe this to others on the fence between plasma and LCD. I have been on the fence now for about 4 months and read many reviews, reports, and visual comparisons on differences between the two. After much turmoil between them, I have decided on the Samsung 5084. This plasma is replacing my 36" JVC family room TV.

How I made my choice was:
First off, you can't go wrong with either choice. LCD's seem to cost much more in the 50" or larger size. In my case, the 52" Sharp LCD I was looking at cost $600 more then I paid for my plasma. It seems there is not much of a difference in picture quality. The sales people in Best Buy and Circuit City want to sell you the LCDs for some reason. I'm not saying you shouldn't listen to them, but, they couldn't give me a good enough reason to swing me. They tell you go for the LCD because of the dull finish to reduce light glare. I didn't see much glare on the Samsung to sway me. Even under the bright lights in those stores. Some will tell you there is loud buzzing which comes from plasmas, but, that is if you live in a high elevation area. I live in Southern New Jersey and I have to say, I hear no buzzing.

Before TV was delivered:
Buy the HDMI cable for best resolution in advance of delivery. If you are using Comcast, be sure to get the new cable box that allows you to connect HDMI from box to TV. You might have to go to a few stores till you find one. Comcast may even give you the cable.

After TV was delivered:
I like to say I was prepared, (for better or worse) after reading some of the horror stories. I had everything ready for the delivery men, all they needed to do was take TV out of box, connect HDMI cable, and plug it in. A little on the delivery first; TV came in not even a week after I ordered it (2 weeks ahead of the promise date) and was delivered a couple days latter. The guys were very nice and moved the big 36" JVC to another room for me. They unpacked the plasma, set it up, turned it on to be sure it worked, and offered to take the packaging with them (which I didn't take them up on, just in case). Don't forget to tip them. I read some reviews where the TV came in damaged, so I checked the box carefully before it was unpacked. Mine was fine!

Setting up TV:
I had a little problem finding cable channels, but that was my dumb fault. There is a setting you need to go into and change TV to HDMI. After you do that, WOW is all I can say, WHAT A PICTURE. Now, a little on the Glare Problem so many have written about. You have to be kidding! It is far better then my old 36" JVC. I would not let glare stop me unless you are used to watching TV in a very dark room. You should be fair to yourself, if you saw glare before with your old TV and it didn't bother you, why should it now. But, if it does, pay the extra $600 and enjoy your perfect world. Please don't get mad at me! But, this was one of my main concerns as to swing for the LCD. And to be honest, I see less glare with the plasma compared to the old TV.

DVD:
I was under the impression you needed a HD DVD or Blu Ray to watch movies; but, that is not true. Sure, I won't get that perfect 1080p picture. But, at least for now I don't have to plunk down another $300 for HD or Blu.Ray. For now or until the war is over, stick with what you have. If you are like me, it won't bother you much for now.

First week and Conclusion:
Yes, I have not had the TV very long. I hope I helped some people on the fence between plasma and LCD. Normally I don't say so too much in a review, however, I'm sure people have many questions I hope I addressed. Like I said in the beginning, I'm no expert. I'm happy with the default setting on the plasma, the light in the room (glare) does not bother me, I don't hear buzzing, and make sure you get HDMI cables and I think you will be happy. I know I am!

Sharp Aquos LC42D64U 42 inch 1080p LCD HDTV

A great HD LCD
Truth be told, I've been looking for a flatpanel HD TV for over a year. I guess I was biding my time and hoping the prices would drop drastically. Well, they have dropped - but not drastically. But all the while, my top choices were narrowed down to 2 or three sets, this being one of them. For me, price was a big consideration, as well has having 1080p. Quality was a close third, though. So once I found this set brand new for an unusually low price, I jumped on it and I'm very happy I did.

I think Sharp created this 42" size class of TV to stand out from the more common 40" sizes. But this TV is more than just a screen size - the picture quality (after some tweaking) is really excellent. This is especially apparent when viewing outdoor landscapes (or golf) in HD. There are far too many picture/color/hue settings to get into here, but I don't think this TV fails for lack of picture settings. While the quality is good out of the box, a little tweaking will make it excellent. You can find a few internet sites out there that give you some good picture settings to use. Action and movement is pretty good - the picture blurs a little on fast camera pans, but so does every other LCD I've seen. At 8 feet away, the slight blur is a non-issue. You should know that the 4ms response times this TV advertises can only be had when turning on the "fast motion" option in the settings. But I haven't even felt the need to turn it on.

The built-in sound is good, though if you're coming from a cabinet TV that has built-in high quality stereo speakers, I can see why you'd be a little disappointed. There is a surround sound simulator option that works pretty well to improve the sound. Bass & treble can also be adjusted. To me, the built-in sound is actually better than my previous 27" RCA tube TV with stereo speakers.

When you first turn on the TV, an on-screen wizard will walk you through setting up your channels. Which gets me to my only issue with this TV: I'm running the TV using an over-the-air antenna. My only beef with the TV is that once it automatically finds the available channels during the setup, it locks them in; you can choose to skip them, but should there be any other channels that the TV didn't find that you want to add to the channel list, the TV will not let you do it. Bottom line: the TV will not let you "add" a channel to the channel list that it didn't find automatically. This could be a problem with users of directional antennas. I think Sharp could fix this with a firmware update, but to date, they haven't.

In sum, this TV has one of the best pictures I've seen, the sound is actually good, and I'm really pleased with it overall. It's a keeper!

Beautiful Picture
After spending quite some time doing research, I settled on my first choice all along. This was the only 42" TV that would fit into my existing entertainment center built for a conventional TV. All the 40" models fit, but I really wanted the extra couple inches. Thanks to Sharp's thin bezel design, the TV just barely fit in. The picture is flawless - bright, crisp colors, good blacks. The sound is just average, disappointing in a TV that costs $1400 or so. The 10-yr old tube TV that it replaced (a Sony) had much better sound. But other than that, it's a great TV. Not cheap, but for me it was worth the expense.

Sony Bravia XBR KDL-52XBR4 52 inch 1080p LCD HDTV

Works great but do not forget to do the calibration
We have got this XBR 52 for super bowl at the nick of time.Though my team lost it,I am going to keep it anyway.

We also spent lot of time figuring out which one to buy but finally my wife really liked this is TV for picture quality as well as the unique look with floating glass.

I have ordered it thru Amazon and got it delivered at third day to home.It does not hurt to live close by to Amazon warehouse.(25 miles from my place).The delivery was great and put the TV where I want them to put it.Also offered to take the package material out.

After setting up the TV with our Time warner cable box, the Hi-Def channels worked great.Any channel that came in 1080i really worked like charm. But any other channel looked really horrible. In fact, my wife started asking me to return this TV as it was not all good.

Based on my research on avsforum and hdguru reviews, I found that factory default settings sucks. The vivid setting really kills standard-def channels.There is a thread called 52XBR4 owners thread in avsforum which have calibration setting for my cable box with the tv. I setup my tv as per that data, WOW -it made a huge difference. Those changes really brought this TV alive.

So far it has been working really good. I have not seen any blurred images so far since I watch lot of sports on this tv.

Sony XBR4 is great!
I've been a big screen owner for over a decade but I've been an HD holdout. Now that HD is more readily broadcast and sold on disc, I took the plunge. I can be a real tightwad, so I researched LCD, Plasma, DLP and LCOS for months before buying in.

While I am convinced you can't beat the picture and brightness of an LCOS, I can't imagine spending two hundred dollars on lightbulbs every year. I know because one of my friends does this with his LCOS. I call it a defect but apparently, it is expected behavior for LCOS owners. I am not an LCOS owner.

I wrote off DLP for two primary reasons. First, no one I know that owns one is terribly happy with it. Second, the color wheel playing congnative dissonance with my visual cortex just seems wrong. Some reports say this can actually result in a perceived picture problem. On a lesser note, both DLP and LCOS suffer from the same footprint size problem as my gigantic 1990's Hitachi projection.

Plasma versus LCD. This is where my decision got difficult. After weeks of thinking I was going to buy a Plasma because of slightly bigger screen size, cheaper price, less artifacts and seemingly better contrast, I bought an LCD. Well, not just any LCD. I stood for hours in front of 30 different Plasma and LCD's and the XBR out shined them all. Unlike other LCD's, the XBR was bright, didn't shimmer like other LCD's, had low glare, was crisp, had good dark blacks and met my minimum 52" requirement. Unlike plasmas, the XBR4 didn't have any screen door to look through. So yes, I highly recommend this LCD but if you can't stomach the slightly higher price, I would go look at some plasmas instead because I didn't see any other LCD's hold a candle to this one.

Amazing TV for the price
I bought this TV not knowing if I was going to really fall in love with DLP. In fact, I had been warned by several people not to buy a DLP. But I kept hearing darling things from people with this specific TV. It's bright, small and doesn't require maintenance (color wheels, tubes, etc.) like most other DLPs, due to its LED engine.

It's 1080p and it's beautiful. I have a PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii hooked up to it, as well as 1080i cable from Comcast. Everything looks great, except the HD doesn't look that great on the cable.. but that's probably Comcast's fault. Their HD signals are incredibly compressed here in the US.

With the PS3 I've watched 1080p Blu-Ray movies and they look amazing.

I highly recommend this TV.

Save your money and mind
I read the reviews and saw over 90% of the folks thought this TV was a 5 star and the ones that didn't hated it. I am one of the latter; this TV was a pain from the start. Received it plugged it in and the first thing I see is the message check fan #3 and in 5 mins the TV turned off. Samsung set up a repair but the Superbowl was coming so I thought I would notify Amazon. They were great and sent me a new TV and it arrived early and I still will get to see the Superbowl. The bad news is now I have to deal with the lousy picture on this set. Some HD programs look great but when you watch a movie either on TV/DVD/DSS unless it is a HD movie unlike the 400 DVD's that I own the picture isn't as good as the 20 yo TV that this one replaced. Dark scenes and scenes with any kind of smoke or fog looked like a really bad color by the numbers watercolor set. (I have seen some people refer to this as a halo effect but that description doesn't do it justice.)

The service rep Samsung sent over had no idea how to fix this, unlike the warning you see in the discription of this item. The service guy just left saying it was everybody's fault but the TV's. So I would look elsewhere for a better brand of TV, you can still buy it here but, I don't recommend this set. Now I am going to press my luck and see if I can exchange this set for a better one.

This new model LCD TV from Samsung is amazing. Beautifull images. I researched 46 inch LCD's several weeks, and narrowed my choices to Samsung and Sony. I was leaning toward the Sony, because my current TV was a Sony 36 inch Trinitron (CRT). The Samsung had specs. equal to the Sony Bravia, and was about $400.00 less. Amazon also had the best price I could find among all reputable on-line retailers. This was my first on-line purchase of a major item such as this Samsung, and was somewhat concerned about the whole process. Everything went smoothly. We love it
We just received our Samsung LNT4669F through the Amazon White Glove delivery service. While we expected to purchase our HD LCD TV through another bargain seller, we were surprised to find that Amazon had the best rate on this TV, including the free delivery service. We also received the TV 4 weeks earlier than anticipated (and just a day before the Super Bowl), since it was on back order when we made the purchase.

After over a year of holding out on HDs and about a month of research on the newest models, we felt that this TV offered the best quality for the money. The aesthetics are superior to any other TV on the market (with the one exception of the clear framed Sony XBR, which we found was overpriced and too wide for the specifications of our media unit). We haven't upgraded our satellite TV service to HD, but have tested a progressive scan DVD player using component cables (red, blue, green) and the quality of the picture was outstanding. The contrast ratio really makes each on-screen image stand out, with an almost 3D appearance. The fast processor & motion technology also makes you feel like the action is happening right in front of you. After spending a lot of time in front of Sony, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, and Phillips flat screens - this picture quality & the overall viewing experience has impressed us above all others.

A few big things that helped us in the decision making process - we have a room with lots of windows, and this model protects very well against the glare of natural light. The multiple inputs (both rear and left side) make it easy to work with a bunch of media devices, including a VGA input for PCs and USB 2.0 for digital cameras, etc. The last thing - this unit looks great on its stand, and because it swivels, we don't plan on mounting it to the wall, which is a huge cost savings.

Samsung LNT2353H 23 inch LCD HDTV

Great Set For the Money
When my 14 year old TV bit the dust recently I figured it was time to move into the 21st century and get an HDTV. Due to space considerations the only criteria the new set had to meet was the width - it couldn't exceed 25.5".

I researched models made by Sharp, Vizio, LG and Samsung that met this requirement and decided on the Samsung LN-T2353H...and I couldn't be more pleased! The picture quality is superb. Granted this was my first experience with High Def TV but I really can't see how any comparably priced TV could look any better.

The set comes out of the box with three pre-set viewing "Modes". STANDARD - which I use and looks just fine to me, DYNAMIC - which brightens the picture a bit too much for my liking, and MOVIE - which darkens the picture slightly to supposedly match that of a movie. Pressing the appropriate button on the remote control lets the viewer compare each Mode. Once the viewer chooses the Mode he or she prefers it's fairly simple to tweak the settings to individual taste.

A pleasant surprise was the sound quality. The speakers are mounted on the bottom of the unit thereby reducing the overall width. While only rated at 3 watts per speaker they sound surprisingly rich and well balanced. The "TruSurround" feature is especially noticeable when watching sporting events. It really has the effect of making the viewer feel in the middle of the event.

I also like the sleek design of this TV. The finish is described as glossy piano black and it looks really nice. Because the finish does tend to attract dust Samsung smartly enclosed an anti-static dust cleaning cloth in the box. A minor point but thoughtful nonetheless.

The manual is fairly straightforward and all the connections - both rear and side panel - are well marked and easy to get at. On the advice of a friend who knows more about these things than I do, I connected my Cable Box to the TV using an HDMI cable. This enables a higher quality video and audio signal to be transmitted through one cable as opposed to seperate wire for each. (For those who prefer this option a 15' length of HDMI cable can be found on Amazon for approximate $10; Radio Shack sells a 12' piece for $47!)

The only "complaints" I have about this set are very minor. One is the remote control is a bit larger than than most I've seen and the many buttons on it are REALLY small. The other involves the viewing angle. Samsung's ads state the picture remains sharp up to 170 degrees both horizontally and vertically. This may be overstating it a bit but then how many people watch their TV at such an uncomfortable viewing angle.

All in all I am thrilled with my first HDTV. I think this model is a great alternative when size is a consideration or your wallet can't afford one of the 1080p sets.

Great TV
I got this TV after Thanksgiving. I did lots of research to see what was the best TV available. It came down to the XBR4 and the Samsung 4671. After a long time of going back and forth I decided the shiny screen on the 4671 was the determining factor. So I decided to spend the extra few hundred and got the Sony. I can't be happier. It took me a while to get the color right for my taste but I think it is expected with all of these HDTV's. I don't notice any motion blur except in extreme cases. This is a great TV and I don't see why anyone wouldn't be happy with it.

Sony 46inch XBR4
After only a few days, this LCD is already acting up.
Day 3 and the tv shut off on it's own and wouldn't turn back on.
No timers or sleep modes were activated and the tv would just go into standby mode and would not allow me to turn it on until I unplugged it for several minutes. However, after a few hours it did it again and again and again.
Does anyone make a decent product anymore? How is a tv that is less than a week old have these issues.
As for the picture (when it's not off in standby mode)is simply amazing.
I must say that I've lost a bit of respect for Sony after this. Now getting this fixed is another pain all together. The people at Sony aren't very help full either.

not a perfect one
I like this set execpt for the followings,
1) Its Optical Output can not deliver 5.1 if HDMI inputs to TV;
2) Its SD signal processing is terrible. I have to use my DVD / Settop Box to do SD -> HD jobs.

Love my new Samsung 4671F. Been waiting for 3 years until I found "the one" and this is a great LCD. Videogames (Xbox 360), High-Def Football, and even Standard Def TV look great. Multiple HDMIs allow for you to connect everything with the top video and audio out there.

My only complaint is with everyone else! They cannot keep up with the technology of the 4671F. My HD cable channels rarely broadcast at 1080i and Fox is always 720p, even for sports. Hopefully the Super Bowl will be an exception for them. Xbox 360 frame rates on certain games cannot keep up with the refresh rate so there is ocassional skipping, but you cannot blame the LCD.

Waiting for technology to catch up is a great feeling. Two tips: buy from Amazon beacause its a great deal but be cautious of the delivery service in some areas. It was awful for me (Manhattan, NY) but I see others had great experiences. You have to be pushy with them. LCD TV Store

Not a skeptic anymore
I've long been a skeptic of "HDTV". I never thought it was as much as everyone said it was. I've been watching my 32" Toshiba for 15 years and it has been just fine. I had been playing with the idea of getting a new set, but just couldn't see replacing this one. It finally started dieing just before Christmas.

I looked, read about and researched everything from plasma to LCD and beyond it seems. I finally settled on the Samsung LNT4671F. It had the best picture I had seen in any of the stores and the price at Amazon was unbeatable anywhere.

The setup was really easy. I removed my old set from the stand and place this one on it. Ran a HDMI cable from the new cable box(had to get a new HD cable box from the provider), plugged it in and it was on. I adjusted a few things because my room is bright and it looks great.

I now sit in my living room amazed at what I've been missing all these years. The picture is so clear that it's almost like 3D. Now I'm going to have to upgrade all of my other stuff to bring it up to the standards of this set.

damn impressive!
i made my purchase after much research online. i chose the 4671f and I'm glad i did. I'm not real hi-tech but i do know what looks and sounds great and this set does both superbly! i read on a few reviews of this set that the sound was bad?.... bad? i can only say they didn't have the Set's audio options set right or have a tin ear or just don't know what they're talking about! this set, the 4671f puts out premium stereo sound! as for the picture? it's stunning! albeit it depends on the source?...different channels/stations hi-def or not use varying degrees of quality as to thier camera and broadcasting equipment...i'm pulling in 5 hi-def channels off the air for free with great results... i use a oppo up-converting DVD player and the results are again stunning, depending on the DVD movie there is like a 3d effect. and the picture and sound clarity are worth the price for the 4671f and the oppo 970 DVD player i payed. the menu is simple and uncomplicated,... and the manual like most manuals could explain a little more... but hey?.... this was a great purchase!

Panasonic TH-42PZ700U 42in 1080p Plasma HDTV

Simply amazing!
Like everyone else, I really did my homework shopping around for a flat panel. When I first began looking, I was set on either a Samsung or Sony LCD, until i ran into this set. Everytime I went to the store, I kept going back to the 42pz700u. I was convinced this was the right TV for me. It was delivered to me last night and I couldn't be happier. The HD picture is simply stunning and the SD channels look surprising well for a flat panel. I just cant wait to get over the break in period so I can enjoy it to the fullest. Its worth the wait though!!!

Smooooth!
The image is very sharp and detailed. If you can adjust your viewing distance between 5-8 feet, you see all that 1080p has to offer. The user controls are excellent for adjusting to your preference. Once you have it set you will not be looking at your TV, you will be looking through a window to all that is out there. It is sharper and more detailed than the Panasonic 50" 1080p.

Great TV
I had taken a lot of time and read a lot of reviews to decide between LCD and Plasma. I live at 8300' and I thought that Plasma was out of the question untill I found out that these Plasma's by Panasonic are rated at 9100'. I liked the more natural colors of plasma over the LCD's. I have had the TV for 2 weeks now, the HD channels are great and the Standard Def. channels are liveable. The colors on this TV are excellent, the sound is better than I expected and I do have to say that the HDMI cable I purchased from amazon made a difference regarding picture and sound. All in all I am very pleased with this TV.

Toshiba REGZA 32HL67U 32 720p LCD HDTV

Great Buy!
I ordered from Amazon and got it 6 days later. I saw that it had arrived at Eagle on day 4. Apparently they knew that they had 10 days, so were in no hurry. After I called, they brought it the next day, and even called back to see if they could bring it earlier than agreed on.
The set is beautiful and it picked up more digital stations than my DMR-EZ27 DVD Recorder did! I only have basic cable with the cable hooked directly to this set, and it found 8 HD channels. They are outstanding, and most of the SD stations are passable. With the Favorites button, I only watch the HD channels and movies from the upconverting player, so I could not be happier with this set. I would highly recommend this set to anyone looking for a resonably priced, but great looking TV with a ton of connections. LCD TV Store

Low price 32", great picture and features

Not the same Samsung Quality
Worst Samsung of the bunch. We are Samsung lovers: my mother has a 32" samsung LCD, my son a 40" LCD, and I have used a Samsung 19" Monitor for three years. All have been and still are spectacular. So why not go with the 19" LCD for my kitchen set? Good idea, bad product.
This one doesn't have the same color even with lots of tweaking. The field of view is good for only 30 degrees then it washes out. Look elsewhere.

Nice TV for DVD viewing in tight quarters
I've only had this unit about three weeks now but it's working just fine so far and I haven't noticed any of the issues other reviewers here have complained about.

First off, I bought this TV strictly for watching DVDs with my Toshiba all-region player, as I'd gotten tired of having to view DVDs on my home PC. I don't subscribe to cable and I don't watch broadcast television and so I will never be using the tuner that is built-in for this model. Additionally, I route the audio from the DVD player into my home stereo which has a good Harman Kardon amplifier and Cambridge Soundworks powered subwoofer and satellite speakers. I am more of an audiophile than video enthusiast. Therefore, I don't know if the built-in speakers in this TV are any good since I'm not using them and do not plan to do so.

I bought this model because it's small enough (flat-panel 19") to fit into my tight living quarters where most of the space is taken up by musical instruments and audio gear, and because it is a widescreen model (I watch mostly movies), and because it is a Samsung which is a brand that has a good reputation for LCD TVs (I'm led to believe). The picture looks good on all the DVDs I've looked at, and there are plenty of parameters in the menu options to adjust picture and sound quality to suit your viewing preferences. Picture size is easily changed with a single button on the remote for switching between discs or content with different viewing formats. I like that you can choose either widescreen or 16/9 settings since DVDs are sometimes formatted in one or the other mode and it's nice to get the fullest possible screen image with no cropping of the side borders. In short, I've got no complaints (so far), and I give it 4 out of 5 stars (I assume there are better models out there, but I'm on a limited budget so I don't feel compelled to seek them out).

One word of warning: When I took the TV out of the box and set it up, the first thing I did was adjust all the picture settings to suit my preferences. But then in the middle of watching something the settings would automatically revert to factory default settings, which are a garishly bright, color-saturated, high-contrast image quality that is hideous to look at. Searching the owner's manual for a solution to the problem was fruitless, so I went to the Samsung customer support website to search for answers. There, I quickly found (with great relief, since I was ready to return the TV to the store where I bought it) that the unit was in "shop mode" which is the setting used for display in brightly lit retail store environments. It was a simple matter to take the set out of shop mode and return it to normal "dynamic mode" for home use:

If the unit is accidentally set to Shop mode and you want to return to Dynamic (Home) mode, press the Volume button and then hold down the MENU button for five seconds on the side panel of the TV.

I don't know why they failed to include that important info in the manual, but there you are.

Let's hope this TV keeps working as well as it has been so far (of course, I paid extra for the extended service plan in case it craps out in the next four years).

Samsung with the dead pixel line
Nice LCD but after only a few days, like some others my new LCD developed the Dead Pixel line from bottom and then all the way to the top. What a disappointment. Called Samsung and they were no help at all. Called Amazon and they offered to trade it out for another unit. Good front end customer service from Amazon. Followup was not so good. Reorder was finally shipped after many days of waiting for this acknowledgement online. Then it took 16 days to get to me and I had to arrange the delivery and push for this. In addition the unit was to be swapped out at delivery and this was not communicated to the delivery people. They left the new and the old and asked that I contact Amazon to arrange for the pickup. What a hassle to have to be home again to wait for a pickup within the normal 4 hour window. This is not great customer service at all.

I see dead pixels!!
We bought this TV on December 16th and it was shipped to us on December 24. I also bought Samsung Blu-Ray player and Dish Network HD service to go with the TV and was very pleased with the picture quality. However within a week I saw a small vertical line in the middle of the TV. Soon the dead pixels grew and they are about half inch thick and run vertically across the screen. It is as if I am watching a split screen. I called Amazon 2 times and they promised that the TV will be exchanged. However after every call they would send out an email saying that since it is a manufacturing defect so call Samsung. This defect happened within a week so I see no reason to call Samsung. Amazon should replace this TV or refund me the money. I will call again tomorrow to see if I have better luck.

Pros:
- Picture quality is good if used with HD broadcast and Blu-Ray disc player.
- TV looks sleek.
- It was easy to connect it. I liked the fact that the panel swivels.

Cons:
- The fact that multiple lines of vertical dead pixels showed up within a week says something about the build quality of the panel.
- The panel and bezel are shiny and reflect light.
- The automotion feature causes Triple Ball effect(TBE). However this was fixed after I upgraded my firmware from 2002 to 2004.
- The picture quality with SD broadcast is atrocious. I believe the Samsung LED DLP or Plasma TV has better picture quality with SD.

Tip:
Do not ever call Amazon customer service during after hours or weekends. Call them M-F during working hours and you will get a representative in USA. The customer service is awful when it goes offshore (sounded like either Indonesia or Malaysia). Most of the time they do not understand what you are saying and they do not have a clue.

Great TV - but the base stand has problems
If you have researched and shopped for a flat screen HDTV, you know how much work it can be, and how overwhelming the task can be for some people. I am an engineer/physicist who works in computer chip manufacturing; and the task was perhaps more daunting because I have the technical background. My brother in-law put in the work - shopping for 3 years (!) before deciding he liked this TV - so I did some quick checking - and simply bought the same model he did!
The TV is great - no complaints at all about the picture - and that's without even using an HDTV signal. If you have a quality standard definition signal - you may be pleasantly surprised at how good the image is. I've seen HDTV - and frankly I am avoiding it for a while to save subscription fees. My guess is that it will be superb on this set - more like looking through an open window, than at a TV screen.

ISSUES:

TILT ISSUE:
This TV is shipped with base attached, and is supposed to stand vertically on the provided base. The provided manual does not indicate that any adjustments for this exist.
My unit tilts back, with the top of the screen 7/8" further back than the bottom of the screen.
Apparently this is a common problem, since my sister took delivery of the same model, on the same day as I did, and her TV tilts forward by 1".
These small tilts are not that big a deal, but it appears to indicate a weakness in the base or the attachment design - something is bent... and perhaps under designed for strength.

I've just today notified Amazon about the tilt problem - I'm waiting for their response.

REFLECTIONS
The screen has a glass like finish and is highly reflective. If you have lights and windows opposite the screen - you WILL see reflections depending on the light source locations and viewing angles.
Lights can be turned off, but windows are a different problem. My viewing room has windows on the wall opposite from the TV, which admit some light - the drapes are not ""blackouts". The reflected images of my draped windows are definitely there during the day. The reflections are most noticeable in the dark side bars if I am using a 4:3 viewing mode. In full screen display modes, the TV picture swamps the reflected images. At night - I have no window reflection problem of course! If you have bright windows in your viewing room, you should consider reflections when you make your choice of TV type and model.

LCD SCREEN BURN-IN
The Samsung manual warns against viewing this TV without using the entire screen area (i.e. using the 4:3 display mode for standard format TV display) Samsung's recommendation is to view less than 5% of time without full screen. There is also a warning about displaying stationary images.
Screen burn-in issues definitely exist with old CRT's, and plasma screens may have similar problems. At this time, I am not sure this is a real problem for a good LCD TV. The manual's warning may simply be a case of editing text from other types of TV manuals.
In any case - especially if you should be concerned about this problem... displaying 4:3 programming with the "Zoom 1" option will fill your screen (use "16:9" option and things will be distorted). The image will be larger (good - you may prefer it) and you will lose a bit of the top and bottom of the full picture (a loss - but not usually that noticeable).

DEAD PIXELS
I am happy to report that contrary to the experience of purchasers who have written other reviews, my set appears to have no dead pixels, both at time of delivery, and now - four weeks later. Samsung's dead pixel warranty can be found on the Samsung website, and they do NOT guarantee no dead pixels, just a relatively small number of dead pixels. My advice is to aggressively pursue any dead pixel issues with the seller as early as possible. You may get satisfaction in excess of the Samsung warrantee.

Excellent Picture - Great Value
After reading reviews and shopping different brands at Circuit City, I found the Toshiba Regza 47" on sale at Amazon and jumped on it. Shipping took only 3 days and the TV arrived in good condition with no damage. I also bought a Toshiba HD-A30 HD DVD Player. Out of the box the picture was disappointing, it took several hours to get the colors, contrast, etc... setup right for me. After I did a firmware update on the Player, I popped in Transformers in HD DVD and was totally blown away. I cant imagine a cleaner or more detailed picture. Once the TV is setup properly, it is right on par with the SONY Bravia, and Samsung models. Totally satisfied with the purchase, and saved a pocketful of money too. HDTV

I REALLY wanted to give this TV a 5
I purchased this TV at 1500, and it was a solid deal for a name brand. The Picture is excellent, as good as any other HD Image, and i paired it with the A35, which is absolutely beutiful when in 1080P. Three HDMI ports are nice, but the VGA por disapointed me as it will only accept a 4:3 image. That confused me, why would a widescreen television only take a 4:3 from a widescreen laptop. Looked around and found that other have the same issue, and the television will not take a widescreen image from VGA. Also, the second port for standard AV (my Wii) is placed on the side in such a manner that the wires shoot out the side rather annoyingly. Also, the silver band at the bottom and the gloss border are also a bit annoying as they reflect backlighting, and a simple matte finish takes care of this. Be sure to take at least 20 minutes to adjust color and contrast on the tv using a guide, this is necessary with any tv of course. Overall, I really wanted to give it a 5 star, but minor annoyances took that way. But rest assured, a quality tv that definately produces a great picture and is a quality buy.

I couldn't ask for a better tv!!!
Well first off, I'd have to say its a huge upgrade from a 25 inch stereo tv! I had the luxury to comparing it to a 40" sony bravia kdl-2500 series and it blows it out of the water it every catergory. The 25000:1 dynamic contrast ratio gives out rich in depth colors and the clarity of the picture is very noticable when i look at the sony bravia's 8000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. the 120 mz frames per second actually really does give a nice smooth frame transition which at first before i even bought it i thought it wouldn't matter. The 3 hdmi outputs i don't even know what to do with two of them. i got a ps3 and thats all i really need on it besides my next investment a bose sound system. The blu-ray picture is very noticable compared to a dvd's 480p on it. All around its a good lcd tv and i would recommend to any one thats looking for a good quality lcd tv, because this one isn't no push over!

Not a "true" 1920x1080 RGB.
Some technology seem to go backwards.
These Samsungs HDTV are not "true" 1920x1080 panels.
They use a special technology called Pentile or similar.
This means that there is NOT 1920x3 RGB Vertical stripes. Instead they use a RGB pattern with less pixels (3,147,264 to be precise)resulting in a chroma sub sampling effect that can be visible with HD-DVD, BlueRay and Computers.

True 1920x1080 panels have 6,220,800 subpixels.

Excellent television with one minor flaw
Before purchasing this TV, I did a lot of research as many others have. I decided on the Sharp 46" 62 series given the specs. But before I bought it, I decided to go to Best Buy to see it for myself. Once I did, I thought it produced a decent picture, but it wasn't anything that blew me away. Directly above the Sharp was this Samsung. I tried to pay attention to the Sharp, but my eyes kept creeping up to the Samsung. Before I knew it, my total focus was on this TV which produced a smoother, sharper, more saturated picture. I decided I could not possibly buy the Sharp after seeing this TV.

My mind was made up and I eventually bought the Samsung here on Amazon and could not be happier. Once you see this TV, you won't go back to anything else.

The one flaw this TV has is the triple ball effect (TBE). This is most evident when watching sporting events such as golf. When the ball is struck and the camera pans the ball as it is up in the air, you see 3 balls instead of one. Hopefully Samsung fixes this issue with an updated firmware.

Given the flaw, it is not extremely distracting and should not deter you from getting this TV. I assure you will not be disappointed.

Samsung LNT4661F 46 inch 1080p LCD HDTV

Great television
The Samsung LNT4661F 46" 1080p LCD HDTV was our first HDTV. Prior to that we watched a 27" analog set and the difference is amazing when viewing in HD. Analog programing on this TV is grainy because of the size of the screen. I like the fact that this set has 3 HDMI ports, makes hook-ups really easy. When we registered the television on line with Samsung USA we received an additional three months of warranty.
We purchased this TV through AMAZON and the free white glove delivery service was great as they unboxed the TV and set it up to insure it worked. Our first one did not (if it had this review would be a five star.) We called Amazon Customer Service while the delivery people were still on site and Customer Service advised us that we could refuse shipment and they would either refund our money or send us another Samsung. We chose to recieve another unit, so the delivery service reboxed the original set and returned it. all at no additional cost. Within a week we had another set delivered and set up. This one works great! We are satisfied with the TV, and the service we recieved.

For people looking to step up to full 1080p resolution in a 46-inch flat-panel LCD, Samsung's 2007 model LNT4661FF is a good choice. Besides offering full 1080p resolution the LNT4661F also features a 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for rich blacks and subltle texture display, an 8ms response time panel for smooth motion, hidden side speakers, an NTSC tuner, and 3 HDMI ports.

Compared to other Samsung Models
The primary differences between Samsung's LNT4661F and the step-up LNT4665F LCD HDTV is in the contrast ratio and video processing power. The pricier LNT4665F offers a 15,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio compared to this model's 10,000:1 ratio, and also offers full 10bit video processing over this model's 8 bit system. The more expensive model should display finer gradients of shading making for more detail in darker scenes. The video processing difference should ensure smoother motion in fast moving scenes for the LNT4065F.
